This is supposed to be 10 AWG but it is a hair thinner than my other 12 AWG wires let alone be considered as 10 AWG. Just look at the pictures. Its diameter is only 2.13mm which if you take the area, it is only 3.56mm^2. In comparison, 12 AWG is equivalent to 4mm^2 and 10AWG is 6mm^2. What's surprising is that this is labeled 6mm^2 but is actually half of that. This is very dangerous that it can potentially burn your house. 12 AWG are safely maxed at 20 Amps while 10 AWG are good for 40 Amps. Imagine using it at 40 Amps continuously not knowing that this wire is only 12 AWG. Yeah, this will melt the sheaths and can potentially cause fire. Also, comparing this to other pictures other buyers has posted, it seems that what I got is thinner.

I bought this wire and I tested it. Results indicate it is in fact copper. I'm always skeptical of aluminum wire being substituted for what is claimed to be copper. So I tested this. I stripped the insulation. I scraped the stranded wires with a sharp knife for a few minutes. This is normally enough to strip away the tin coating. Then I cut off about 2" of the strand bundle, placed it in a glass bowl and poured concentrated hydrochloric acid into the bowl. Aluminum with react quickly, bubble (H2) and heat. Noe of these behaviors occurred. The strands just sat there in the acid. So, I conclude that this wire is not aluminum and most probably copper.
