I used Neutrogena Anti-Residue shampoo about once/week for many years, then it became hard to find, and when I could find it the price was higher than I wanted to pay for a shampoo that was somewhat drying. I discovered Ouai Detox shampoo and gave it a try. I was very pleased with it, and have now been using it (intermittently with my regular shampoo) for months. For reference, my hair is wavy/curly, color treated, and tends to be very dry. Ouai Detox shampoo is a gel formula that smells really pleasant. I find that while it really does remove product build-up from my hair (I use several products), it leaves my hair in terrific condition - no dry-out. I feel that it's well worth the price. I have been trying to be better about not washing my hair as much and on the day I do wash my hair, hair oiling a few hours before. So on top of not being the cleanest by wash day and then oiling as well, my hair needs a DEEP clean by wash day. This stuff does it! After I do a double wash with this, before I condition my ends, (idk how to describe it without sounding bad) my hair does not feel soft and almost slightly coarse..? BUT I genuinely feel like its CLEAN after using it (especially compared to just double washing with my normal shampoo, Biolage) especially after all the hair products I have put in it through the non-wash days and the day to day dirty-ness. You only need a small amount to remove buildup from styling products. It left my hair very soft and shiny, but also left my scalp very clean. It may tend to be drying, so I only use it once a week. Would definitely repurchase.
