In 1989 Dr. Ott founded OttLite Technologies to bring the power of natural daylight indoors through his one-of-a-kind natural daylight bulb. A photobiologist and pioneer in natural light research, Dr. Ott discovered through 40 years of scientific research the remarkable effects specific wavelengths of light have on all living things. UPDATE: Ottlight reached out and made the refund right away. The light came defective and won't turn on but what really annoys me is that it will cost me $8 to have UPS come get or I have to drive it to the closest UPS drop off which is almost an hour away as I live out in the country. If I wanted to drive into town I would have done that vs ordering online. Which is what I will do....will drive and drop this off and then go to a local seller and purchase a light. ... show more

    • Try to find a one arm model
The magnifier is convex like a fish eye and the only way I can use it is to close one eye. The one I had for years is no longer available but it had a cover over the magnifier and the light was part of the magnifier, not a second arm.

I do very close up craft work on a craft table. This light with the magnifier allows me to move the magnifier and the light to the proper angle depending on what area I am working on.     • Bad design
I bought this to do crafts and art. I also use the magnifying glass to view small hallmarks on silver. The main thing is that I want is hands-free magnification. I found this lamp to be incredibly fiddly, making me adjust it constantly, and of course taking my hands away from the work I was trying to do. The reason for this is because the magnifying arm is in the WRONG position. The magnifying arm was higher than the lighting arm making it so that you couldn't get the light over the magnifying glass in a position where you could actually see what you were doing through the lens. This is is a great little lamp. Heavy so it stays in place while moving the magnifier around. Great light, magnifying glass is such a bonus for detail work. Currently using this for crafting. Recommend it!
