    • If you have a phone, you need an OtterBox. The rugged Defender is my preferred protector.
The first thing I do when I buy a new phone is to purchase an OtterBox to protect it. The defender is my OtterBox of choice because it protects from drops yet slides easily in and out of my pocket. There is no screen cover on this OtterBox, which is great because I always tear mine off of the older models. Screens are pretty scratch-resistant now and don't need covers. Plus, the slightest amount of dust or debris will distract me forever, and it's easier to clean the phone without the screen cover. So I'm glad they abandoned it in this model. To really protect the phone, use the hard screen cover case that comes with the belt clip/viewing stand. Also, the screen is protected by the case on the front side because the lip protrudes from the screen a fair distance. If you dropped your phone pavement, the screen likely wouldn't come into contact with the ground because the lip sticks out far enough. Overall, I would recommend this OtterBox Defender to anyone who has an iPhone (note that this model is for the X only, but they make cases for all iPhone models). Otter Box Defenders are serious protection for your phone. My phone was dropped from my motorcycle while doing 70 MPH across Kansas. The phone was recovered, the Otter Box Defender was destroyed. But the phone, found face down on the centerline, not even a scratch. This is an old phone, old Otter Box design, but they engineer their cases to protect the phone, NOT the Otter Box. ... show more

Okay this case is HUGE. I bought it the day I purchased the iPhone X because I'm clumsy AF. On the plus side, I've dropped my phone several times since purchasing the phone (once face-first onto asphalt--yikes!), and neither the case nor my phone has a single scratch. On the downside, this case is HUGE and fairly heavy. I mean, it's an OtterBox, so that should be expected, but for women especially, this will not fit very easily into a pocket. Even with it's bulk, though, your phone can be charged through the case using a magnetic platform charger (woohoo!), which makes it a lot easier to charge than having to peel back the protective slot to charge your phone via cable. The buttons work well, the fit is snug, and it's a very solid case overall. All in all, highly recommended for those clumsy folks like me. ... show more

This product is bulky, but it’s because it’s so protective of the phone. Anytime I get a small ship in the inner hard plastic side, which eventually happens because I dropped my phone a lot, I know I need to replace it with another Otterbox. But once I do, I knowmy phone iscompletely safe again. I hate having the interruption of having to buy a new phone in the middle of workday. I need my phone to work all the time and this ensures that that happens. Just be aware that when you see a chip in the plastic, you do need to replace it. This is because it has taken a bullet for your phone. And now you need new armor. That is normal, so don’t blame the product if you keep a chipped, Broken OtterBox case, and your phone breaks after that. I had to learn this over time. ... show more

My son left his phone on top of my car. It flew off into rush hour traffic going around a corner. It sat on the pavement for at least 20 minutes, face down and directly in the tire path on the road, being run over repeatedly by a steady stream of cars and trucks. The phone is 100% intact and fine. Not a scratch on it. The glass screen protector was barely even damaged, just one minor crack.
