  • Dependable, Trustworthy Drop Protection; New, Improved Design; Note Regarding Use with Glass Screen Protector
I previously had an OtterBox Defender for my iPhone 5c, and it protected my phone so well from my many drops on concrete, asphalt and tile that I wanted one to protect my new phone. (I tried an OtterBox Commuter Series, but didn't find the slim design near as protective; see below.) This version, for the 7 Plus, is even better and more rugged than before. (NOTE: "NEW" refers to differences between this case and my previous 5c OtterBox Defender.) PROS: - I LOVE the way the case frame is slightly beveled and inset, so the screen is set a little deeper into the case for better protection when it falls face down. (I had tried an OtterBox Commuter when I first got this new phone, but immediately returned it because that case had too slim a profile, and the screen was much more exposed. This is a major concern with such a large screen.) - (NEW) The textured case is much easier to grip; the previous silicone shell on my 5c case was ultra smooth on the sides and slippery when wet. - The silicone shell is just rubbery enough to protect from drops, but not so rubbery that it's hard to slip in a pocket. - (NEW) The silicone is much firmer than on my old 5c version, and the smaller pieces that go over the ports/buttons seem much, much sturdier and fit snugly. On my previous one, they got really loose and floppy and, after a while, never fastened back in place the same as before. Also, this silicone feels like it will stay snug in the corners and not gap like my old one. - (NEW) The flap that covers the ring/silent switch on the left hand side now has the hinge on the top instead of on the bottom. With my previous 5c OtterBox Defender, opening that flap would often turn that switch off if I wasn't careful because the hinge was at the bottom. - The inner plastic shell is well designed, with multiple fasteners on all sides for a snug, secure fit. The pieces fit together much better than the ones for the 5c Defender, and it's much easier to put together. - I'm not crazy about this color combo, but it is smart that it has the darker color on the silicone (outside) cover. My previous case was a soft red (more like a salmon/dark pink) and got grungy quickly. CONS: - The button covers for the sleep/wake and volume buttons are REALLY stiff and hard to press. (This compounds the issues caused by the awkward layout of these buttons on the 7 Plus.) This could be an issue for people with arthritis or weaker fingers.) - This is likely due to the sheer size of the 7 Plus, but the hard plastic inner shell requires a bit of a delicate touch when removing quickly. I don't know how hard/easy it is to break the shell pieces, but it takes time to pop open the many fasteners. I could remove the 5c shell really quickly, but of course, it was a lot smaller.. - I was shocked that there were so few color combinations available; I expected more variety for the latest iPhone - at the very least, even plain white. This color combo is a bit dull and the colors have almost an "old, dusty" quality; the pink is closer to a light mauve than it is a true pink. The plum is okay, but I wish it were brighter overall. I am ordering a decal to personalize and brighten up the case, but these weird colors made it VERY limiting when trying to find coordinating skins. I found an adorable decal that would have almost coordinated with the aqua mint version of this case, but the aqua colors clashed (and you can't always being sure when ordering online). The stormy seas blue is also a slightly unusual shade. (I have seen and compared all these cases in the store.) If I had it to do over, I would have ordered this OtterBox in black so I could have had a wider selection of skins. NOTE: Because I had already bought and installed a glass screen protector (link below) to use with the Commuter Series case I had previously bought, I tried to use the Defender case as is (with the thin plastic screen protector over the glass screen protector). Technically, it kinda worked (even the Touch ID), but typing was really hard. Not only did I have to press more deliberately, but sometimes the letters wouldn't respond at all; they'd do a little shaking thing and never popped up or appeared in the text box. With my old 5c Defender case, I used only the thin plastic screen protector, and I never had once had issues with it in the nearly 3 years I used it. It had great response. The only real issue with the plastic screen protector is that it got a little dusty around the edges, but it was easy to clean. I removed the thin plastic cover on the 7 Plus Defender case, and the phone with the glass screen protector fits perfectly and works great! I slipped a small knife between the clear plastic film and the hard shell and worked a section loose, then gently peeled/worked it off all the way around. I then used Goo Gone to remove a few small spots of sticky reside. I cleaned the whole shell well with alcohol before putting it back together. • This is my Third case for my iPhone 8 Plus.
This is my third case for my iPhone 8 Plus. My phone would be a paper weight without it. My phone was run over by a car at work and holy sh*t my phone didn’t break! The case saved my phone. The case broke obviously so I bought another one. No problems works great but if your have this case and work in construction, warehouse etc. the screen and case can and will wear out. This the protective screen will become loose over time and loose its transparency, scuff marks, scratches and dents are permanent which suck cause the tiniest scratch can drive you crazy. Unlocking it becomes difficult from using the home button so much, rubber shell develops a yellow dirty shade very quickly even on black. These are expensive but worth every penny if you drop, bang, or use your phone a lot in hazardous situations. My complaint is with the protective screen. Over time it becomes dirty and aged making it difficult to see how great your phone is. If they could only develop a way to replace the screen protector on the shell or single screen shells, have a choice to purchase a front cover or back cover. I know you can buy the shell front and back as a seer but they are almost as expensive as a new case. Otter you need to thank your customers. Also if you want extra screeen protection ) which I did and have done before) you can use this case with a screen protector already on your phone. By doing this it makes it hard to use the home button features and fingerprint ID. Pieces of dirt sand and crud falls through the opening on the front cover where the ear hearing/front speaker and front camera is located. ... show more

  • Love these cases! So durable and protects my phone so well when I drop it.
Size: Case Color: PURPLE NEBULA (WINSOME ORCHID/NIGHT PURPLE) Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I still have this case on my cell phone and I bought the case a few years ago. I’ve had my iPhone for over 5 years and the protection this case gives my phone when I drop it is the only reason why my phone has lasted so long. I bought the belt clip as well and it so convenient to be able to snap my phone into the clip when I’m at work and know it’s secure. ... show more

  • Don’t panic! This is a good case!
After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit nervous about ordering this product, but I’m glad I did. Some users claimed that the case didn’t fit the iPhone 8 Plus and that is FALSE. This case fits my iPhone 8 Plus perfectly. The colors are not off to me, it does look blue and beige and I have no problems with the touch screen so far. I say so far cause I plan to put a tempered glass screen protector on my phone as well, and that might mess with the touch screen on this case. If that happens, I’ll just pull the built in screen off. It’s adhesive. It’s not hard to do. Update: After putting on the tempered glass screen protector, I can hear the otter box screen clicking when I type and the touch screen is a little bit wonky, and the corners are a little hard to touch sometimes my touches are a little unresponsive. Overall, it’s worth it for the extra protection for a $800 phone. Just saying ... show more
