I listen to them mainly for classical music. They sound great. Nice placement of instruments in sound stage, and I can really hear the subtilty of each instrument. I found for classical it is best if I listen to them in medium volume to really get the best experience. Too loud overshadows the subtilty of the instrument timbres. Also, the software equalizer really lets me adjust the sound to my liking. It also has a separate Clear Bass setting just to adjust the bass from -10 to +10 for fine tuning the bass. This is good for classical music where I normally need a flat frequency response across the board, but just need to fine tune the bass volume so it is not too much. I had trouble with the Alexa hands free. The Sony Headphone app will only respond to the Alexa name. I had been using one of the alternate Alexa names, Echo, so my headphones would not respond to Echo. Once I started using the name Alexa, it worked. However, I was disappointed that I could not stream music from my Alexa to my headphones. The stream would work for about 2 minutes and keep stopping. The noise cancellation is great. I love it when the air conditioning turns on and the noise of the air handler and refrigerator etc., disappears. Overall, very well pleased with these headphones. ... show more

I bought these to replace my old Sony MDR-ZX770BN headphones, which finally bit the dust after many years of heavy use. Boy, has Sony's NC come a long way! The NC is fantastic, and the comfort is also vastly improved. Battery life seems fine so far, and phone call quality is very good. Controls (mostly via swiping) are intuitive and effective. Only time will tell how durable they are (my old MDRs were bombproof!) but in terms of function and comfort these are making me very happy. Overall they work well. I found the headband hurt my head within an hour of putting them on. Purchased a headband wrap whibch helped a lot.

It has amazing sound quality, I have this and AirPod pros but would pick the XM5’s any day based on sound quality. Pairs well with the app and has tons of cool and unique features. It is very lightweight, but it still seems to hurt the top of my head after using it for a while. I definitely think it’s worth the money especially when paired with power bank which works really well and I love the wireless function it had! ... show more

I owned my XM5 for slightly more than a year and enjoyed them. One day, I picked them up and sound had stopped coming from the right ear piece. After troubleshooting, Sony's service told me to contact a service to have the headphones repaired. On contacting the service, I was told that parts weren't made available to repair this product and so Sony's own recommended service provider didn't do repairs since it would basically involve them buying a whole new XM5. Good headphone, but not nearly worth needing to drop $400 every 15 months. ... show more
