Description

Otrivine adult nasal spray contains the active ingredient xylometazoline, which is a type of medicine called a decongestant.? When this medicine is sprayed into the nose, the xylometazoline works by acting on alpha receptors that are found in the walls of blood vessels in the linings of the nasal passages and sinuses. It causes these blood vessels to contract and narrow, thereby decreasing blood flow into the linings of the nose and sinuses. This reduces swelling and the feeling of congestion. It also reduces the production of mucus, helping to relieve a blocked nose. The nasal spray helps relieve congestion in a few minutes and the effect of the medicine lasts for up to 10 hours. As the medicine causes the blood vessels in the nose to contract, it minimises the amount of medicine that is absorbed into the bloodstream from the nose. This means that the nasal spray has a relatively local effect in the nose and is unlikely to have side effects on other parts of the body.

I was given this product by my allergist. Now my wife uses it. There cannot be a better product anywhere! It also helps clear my stopped up Eustachian Tube. I have to take weekly allergy shots but no matter how stopped up my sinus's are, this product clears them right out. 5-10 minutes and lasts for 8-10 hours. It has also helped with my snoring and quality of sleep due to the fact that I am getting such clear air and breathing quality. A LIFE SAVER!! Hold your head down, spray once in each nostril, and draw air in a strong as possible. If some gets in the back of your throat it can be kinda nasty but just drink something. If you have problems with your ears, wait about a minute then spray again then wait a few minutes and blow hard with your mouth closed like your trying to clear water out of your ears, they should pop right open. ... show more

This product is great for not causing rebounding of nasal tissue. I am appalled at the constant price increases. Even this is not as addictive as the usual otc nasal sprays, it is still addictive. Be cautious in using this. I am so tired of putting money in already filthy rich peoples pockets!!!!!! Stop it!!! ... show more

This product is good and Iam happy with the product. However some 2 months back I purchased some 2 cell phone batteries and their performance was very poor. Upto now I have to recharge the batteries almost on a daily basis. If you check my account you can see that I even tried to send them back and I was told to charge them up properly and that with time they would improve but there has been no change since. ... show more

Tried this first while in the UK for stuffy nose and hay fever it worked amazing and fast. No rebounding or sneezing either like with other sprays. Glad to know I can order here and fail to understand why we can't have this over here because it works so well.

    • Product damaged during transit?
I've used this product for the past year, making my initial purchases abroad. The product was so effective for me that I went on-line to purchase two more bottles of it. The vendor is located abroad, which I knew at the time that I ordered the product. The product arrived prior to the promised date, which was very nice. But when I started using the product it seemed completely ineffective. I looked at the expiration date on the cartons of the two bottles; the expiration date was 2014. I am not sure what happened to make the product ineffective. I have no reason whatsoever to blame the seller or even suggest a trace of blame. Instead, I suspect that the product may have been exposed to high heat during transit. That is merely conjecture. I haven't complained to the seller because I don't blame the seller.
