    • Several improvements over the Concorde Club MKII
I got these as an upgrade from the Concorde Club MKiIs. Immediately I noticed an audible improvement in clarity and especially bass response, which is important for me as 90% of what I play is house/electronic music that needs all the bass it can get. What was IMO the best improvement was that the noise generated by the stylus itself is MUCH less. I found the amount of audible noise on the Club MKII to be annoying to the point of making me stop listening sometimes, since sitting in front of them the noise was so distracting. I guess for a club this wouldn't be an issue, but for me at home it was. I think the Elite is a worthy upgrade. A little overpriced though IMO, it's audiophile priced but not quite audiophile quality. ... show more

Goes perfectly with my two vintage Technics SL 1200 mk2 TTs (which I recently acquired with a bunch of other vintage gear) and are build like tanks. Significantly improves the sound compared with the old DJ carts. Sound seems better than a Pro-ject Debut Carbon EVO with upgraded Sumiko MM cart. So ... very good for a MM cart. Good enough that I'm keeping the TTs ... and very little else. ... show more

    • Sounds good, but better options in this price range that don't require 3g of damaging downforce
Every time you play your record it is degraded by the stylus tip just a little bit. The more downforce you use the more damage is done. While this cartridge sounds great, there are much better options in the same price range that don't require 3g of downforce.

These are seriously impressive, and worth the price over the Club Mk 2. The sound is that much better, more accurate, more nuanced. For PA use the Clubs are probably fine but for home use it's no contest. A couple points to note - I clarified with Ortofon via email - despite verbiage on the site sounding like otherwise, they are fully usable as a DJ cartridge - normal backcueing is ok, just not heavy scratching/backspins etc. The other thing is if buying on Amazon, verify the seller is authorized dealer (can be done on Ortofon site) or you have no warranty. Some reviews on Club Mk 2 point out lack of seals on cartridge boxes - you absolutely want these, per Ortofon the only thing that does not have seals is stylus replacements. ... show more
