  • THIS COAT IS BOMB, LONG, & WARM
Color: Green Size: Medium
2024 update: Still no issues with this coat. I LOVE it Short review: This coat is great. It fits well, blocks out wind chill, covers your neck, and is very long. Detailed review: I got a size Medium in green. Length: I am 5'9 (150lbs) with the vast majority of my height being in my legs and this coat goes all the way down to below my knees. It has a double zipper which can make sitting easier. Since most of my height is in my legs I do have a long stride when walking, and for the most part this coat doesn't impede on that. If I'm walking uphill I'll unzip it a little from the bottom to make it easier or if I'm trying to get somewhere really fast (cause I'll take even bigger steps). I 100% recommend it to taller ppl looking for a long coat. Fit: It fits me very well with and without layers. I don't have a large chest so that's something to consider if you're deciding between a medium and large. Im only a C but if you are someone with a larger chest I would probably suggest a large. It also fits my arms which are pretty long. Warmth: This coat is super warm without being bulky. I could feel how warm and insulating it is the second I put it on. It doesn't feel thin at all but it's not all giant. It keeps me warm in these 0 degree winters. The sleeves also "seal" (idk what other word to use) around your wrists so wind doesn't get in. Look: This literally doesn't look like a sleeping bag at all but I also got it in green so maybe that's partially why. (Some reviews were saying theirs looks like a sleeping bag). The green looks super cute with the silver-gold fastenings and zipper. The green is true to the color in the company picture. Kind of like a nice olive green. Not super bright or anything. Love it. Special things I like: I love how deep these pockets are. They can fit a full size water bottle and still have room left over. I also love the size of the hood. It's perfect for ppl with big hair or that wear head wraps. The hood also lays flat and isn't uncomfortable or in the way. It will also cover almost your whole face if you button it up. Plus if you button it up but don't put it over your face, it'll just keep your neck super warm. Overall this coat gets a 10/10 from me so far. Love it. ... show more

  • Runs big, looks great, pretty warm, buy it.
Color: Black Size: Large
First off, this coat runs big. I'm 5'5, usually wear an XL/14/16, 40D. I initially bought the XL and even with layers on it was way too big. The large is a comfortable fit with winter layers underneath. PROS: - The hood. It has snaps that go all the way up your neck and chin- I look a bit like a very stylish Kenny from South Park when I do this, but it eliminates my greatest winter coat peeve: insufficient closure around the neck area. Keep in mind a bulky scarf will prevent you from buttoning all the way up, or make it challenging, but my old clunky scarves are actually making me sweaty with this feature, so I'm looking for something a little thinner. No scarf has also been fine in fairly cold temps. It's also big enough that I can wear my wool beanie (with a pom on top) and my comically large noise-cancelling headphones underneath it. - The length is great, it hits me just below my calf in the back, and the little step in front gives my stride enough room, you can also unzip from the bottom up if you have a longer stride. - Big, deep pockets. They're basically two extra purses. I've kept a reusable grocery bag, gloves, and keys in just one pocket with room to spare, although loading up will definitely give you a lumpy look. - Warm, but not bulky. I don't look like the Michelin man and I'm still warm. That being said, this isn't Canada Goose or Patagonia level warmth, but if you know how to dress appropriately for cold weather (i.e. layers), you will be sufficiently warm. Windchills in Chicago were -22 today, and I was ok during my commute. If you're moving around a lot you might even get too warm. - The design. It looks like something way more expensive. The geometric stitching gives it some great visual interest. It's hard to find a coat that's warm and looks chic. CONS - There's no loop to hang the coat inside. This was majorly inconvenient when I was trying to hang it on one of those thin two-pronged hooks you see everywhere. If you have a chair or a big enough hook to accommodate the hood, you'll be fine. - Sometimes the zipper is a pain. That being said most zippers are a pain when they're this long because they scrunch up as you reach down to close them. I've had to fiddle with it for a few seconds longer than is convenient on a few occasions, but it's a heavy-duty zip and I don't foresee it giving up the way it did on my last coat. - The sleeves could be a little bit longer- this hasn't been a big problem, I think it's just a matter of preference. All said, I love this coat and I think it's a damn steal- when I have to replace it I envision myself buying another. ... show more

  • Functional and stylish
Color: Navy Size: Small
This is the 3rd Orolay coat that I tried and by far the most practical and stylish. I believe it runs more true to size than the others, I am 5'2" weigh 112lbs and the small was perfect. It hits at mid calf covering me up nicely, it has a very nice and practical hood that extends past my face shielding the wind with a nice snap closure. It is also less boxy than the other I tried, with a nice more fitted waist, yet roomy enough for a sweater underneath. The pockets however do not have snaps or zipper to keep them closed and secure, there is no pocket on the inside and the cuffs on the coat are not the warm nicely fitted cotton ones on the other coat. The cuffs are just the nylon but with elastic to keep the air out. It seems that the coat would be warm but I have not had a chance to try it out. It seems that Orolay does not consistently provide all necessary features on all their coats. Dome have some but not others. A stylish look, yet warm, a functional hood that stays closed, an inside pocket, warm cuffs, pockets on the outside with zippers that stay closed, and finally consistency with their sizing. I did keep this one, finally after 3 trials with different styles. Well see if it keeps me warm. ... show more

  • Best Coat I’ve Owned! Highly Recommend!
Color: Black Size: X-Small
This coat has gotten me through a rough Alaskan winter. Even at -20F, I was much warmer than I was in past years with this coat. It hits at about calf length on me (I’m 5’5) and I got an XS (I’m about 125lbs). It’s still big enough to layer big sweaters underneath comfortably, but doesn’t look too bulky/loose with something thinner underneath either. I don’t use the hood very often, but it’s pretty big so it can go over your head even if you have a hat on under which is nice. It’s very comfortable and I get loads of compliments on it! I’ve never had a coat that I’ve really fell in love with before, but if I did - this would be the one! Originally I bought the coat discounted on Black Friday but the small was far too large for me. I shipped it back and customer Orolay’s customer support was quick to get back to me and get me another coat shipped out, refunding the extra I paid so I’d still get the discount I had originally. They were always really pleasant and quick to respond, so great work there as well! The only downsides I have are that a few months in, some of the feathers are beginning to come out somehow. There are no tears, but they are somehow poking through the fabric. It’s not super noticeable, but I’m worried that eventually it may compromise the warmth of the coat. There are also random threads that show up despite my pretty gentle use of the coat. I mean, I do wear it just about every day but I don’t beat it up at all by any means so it seems a little strange to me that it seems like some thread is unraveling from parts. Again, I don’t notice much difference from it right now but if it continues I’m worried it may become damaged somehow. The zipper is also pretty stubborn at times, leading to me fighting to zip/unzip it fairly often (mostly at the very bottom). I do wish that the pockets had some sort of snaps or zippers as well since while they hold a lot, I worry something may fall out of them. Even with these small inconveniences, I still adore this coat and have recommended it to everyone around me and those who have complimented me on it. I’m very glad to have found and purchased it! I’ll update this review at a later date to add pictures and also to add if anything drastic has changed my opinion on it. TL;DR - great coat, helped me survive harsh Alaskan winter, just has a few construction flaws ... show more

  • Quality down, size runs small, plastic zipper
Color: Green Size: Large
This coat has people saying it runs large, so I got a large because it says 18" shoulders and 49" hip. My shoulders are 16" so this is something I always research before buying anything. 18" should have been plenty of room for me, I was wrong. It is tight on my shoulders and I feel like an ogre in this coat. My hips and bust are both 43" and I have to pull the coat in and hold it to zip up even though the size large should be big enough for me. Besides that, the down is high quality and the fill is wonderful! So warm. The baffles, although marketed as fashionable, are very functional and hold the down in so there are no cold spots. The zipper is, unfortunately plastic and covered in metal in the front to fake a real one. That and the small size are the let downs. Overall a lovely warm coat. ... show more

  • Obsessed With This Gem of A Coat!
Color: Green Size: Large
OK, I’ve never written an Amazon review before, but I am totally obsessed with this coat! I’m actually writing this review right now in 17 degree weather - (I’m a smoker, so I’m outside a lot!) - and my body is warm and snug like never before. I “feel” like I’m wearing a sleeping bag, but I look absolutely fantastic. The styling details put this on the top of my list. I love the oversized hood and collar, cut-out front hem, and geometric quilting. It’s slightly tapered at the waist too. I really appreciate the double zippers, (which are good quality), and inner wrist cuffs. I found it to fit true to size, and I’m really happy with the army green color. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • True to size, but runs somewhat small. Only 43"/45" long. Small bust and arms area.
Color: Purple Size: X-Large
This review is for the PURPLE Coat. I typically wear XL or 2XL in winter coats and purchased this coat based on the reviews that it runs large and long. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. The coat runs true to size with XL being 40-42 (bust), 34-36.5 (waist), and 43.5-46 (hips). It does NOT run "large" at all, it fits literally the way XL is specified by the manufacturer. I tried the XL over a summer dress and might have some room for a thin windbreaker to isolate a little more from the cold, but there is no room for a thick sweater. The arms are on the slim side and so is the bust area. Also the length is 43" front and 45" back. It is NOT long at all. I'm only 5'4" and the front runs a little below the knee. I was hoping for a longer coat at least 50" long. As with everything else in life, it's open to interpretation, what's appears to be a long coat to some might be a short coat to others. I did not wear this coat yet during below freezing temps with 25-40 mph winds so I do not know how it performs in the real cold, however, I suspect it needs an additional overcoat to keep warm. This coat probably deserves more than one star*, but I wanted to bring the attention to the cons (vs pros) so other purchasers can benefit from it. . ... show more

  • Love this coat!
Color: Navy Size: Medium
This coat hit mostly all of my marks for a winter coat: the fit and length are right, it has a (two-way) zipper AND snaps which button all the way down, decent hood which extends past your face (no draw strings though, only snaps), storm cuffs (they aren't truly fitted cuffs tho but that's okay), and a beautiful color (Navy Blue which appears to have a hint of purple). I love it. Hasn't been cold enough for it yet but I started to get hot wearing it in the house. Hopefully it'll keep me really warm when it's brick outside. Also, the neck/hood of the coat buttons all the way up and becomes a high collar which is different, cute and helps block wind if you're scarfless. Also the hood lays nice and flat so there's no big poof behind your neck when you're sitting. I sat and stood in the coat and it was comfortable all around. I'm 5'7 and 3/4 EXACTLY and about 170 lbs and the medium fits me perfectly. It also comes down to the bottom of my calves. The cut-out in the front is low-key stylish and the coat overall is very lightweight. No heavy coat weighing you down and for the price? Get it! EDIT - So I've worn this coat an entire winter. Had to come back and revise my review. It's very stylish BUT it isn't as warm as I'd like. If I dont layer underneath on a very cold day (11 degrees), I would be cold. The pockets are thin material. I'm always concerned about my keys poking thru it. By winter's end, I had a rip on the outside of the pocket and the white stuffing shows. Im gonna have it repaired BUT I bought a new, warmer, quilted winter coat for next season. ... show more
