Description

The Orlimar Intercept irons are all about developing consistency. By being all the same length, lie, balance and weight as a 7-iron, there is no need to change your posture, stance or ball position so you only have one thought process for every swing with your irons and wedges. Game improvement features include enhanced perimeter weighting by focusing weight where it is needed for golfers to experience a more solid feel and with precision accuracy. FlexFace Technology in the 5 and 6-irons help boost distance and ensure proper distance gaps and trajectories throughout the set. Single length irons allow for a single swing plane regardless of club for more consistent results. Deep undercut cavity back irons provide exceptional perimeter weighting for forgiveness. Wide soles resist digging, make the clubs easy to hit from a wide range of lies. Stainless steel heads provide a great transfer of power from the club to the ball for maximum distance.Set configuration: 5-GW.

  • Probably good for beginners.
Hand Orientation: Right Shaft Material: Steel Flex: Regular Configuration: 5-GW
I’ve been a golfer for 30 years now, perhaps a 18-20 handicap. I generally make solid contact with my irons, with decent compression and a high ball flight. My existing irons are a 20-year-old cavity-back set made by RAM (no, not the car company). I figured maybe it was time to try a new set of irons and see what 20 years of progress looks like. The single-length concept really intrigued me. Orlimar has been around a while, so I figured it was at least a familiar brand, so I decided to give these a try. Like most, I tend to have more success with the shorter irons, 7-PW, versus the mid to long irons, so why not see if this would help in that regard? First, the overall appearance of these irons is handsome and not flashy. They have a big cavity area, which should help when missing the sweet spot. In terms of length, they are all indeed the same length, very close to my progressive length 7 iron. This means the 8-GW are longer than my progressive set, and the 5 and 6 irons are shorter. In terms of stance, I find that I have to stand a bit more upright than my progressive set, which can pose a bit of a challenge for my strong/high right hand grip. I think this is where I have the most trouble with them, as it was harder to get comfortable swinging them. Also, as a compression hitter, I still have to adjust my swing a bit, as I play shorter irons further back in my stance, but not with longer irons. Basically, I still have to adjust my swing per club, just less so versus my progressive length irons. In terms of feel, these hit pretty soft. Nothing too bad, though I suspect it also deadens the feel of a mis-hit, which could hamper your ability to improve contact, since you might not know when you’re missing the sweet spot. Overall, these feel a touch lighter than my old irons, and I wonder if the heads have enough mass to help move the ball. In terms of performance, the above caused me to struggle with consistency with these clubs. A nice, well-struck shot would go a good distance. The GW, 100 yards, up to the 5 iron at maybe 205 yards. The problem I found was that distances with longer irons was just not that consistent. I hit at a driving range with TopTracer, and the results were pretty mixed. One shot the 5 iron would go 200, the next was 165, with not much difference in feel between the two. My only guess is I was missing the center. The shorter clubs hit easier, but that’s not really a problem with most shorter clubs, regardless of the set. I will say the clubs generally hit straight, though nothing will work miracles for a plain bad shot. I just had a hard time figuring out a good swing versus a bad swing with these. Conclusion: In the end, I found my old progressive length clubs to be more consistent. I think I might just be too engrained with this way of playing to adapt to single length irons. I just couldn’t get 100% comfortable with them. Do I think they are bad clubs? No, not at all. I think these might be really good clubs for beginners, as they appear to be pretty forgiving. A mis-hit still generally goes where you’re aiming, but you probably lose 25% of the intended distance. When I took up golf, I would certainly have taken that penalty because it’s still advancing the ball a long way. In more experienced hands, I’m not so sure I recommend them. Lastly, I also had a bit of concern about some chrome finish chipping off the backs. Hopefully they are long-term durable. I wouldn’t know, because I decided to stick with my old set. If they do indeed hold up, they seem like a good value. ... show more

  • Very stoked on these
Hand Orientation: Right Shaft Material: Steel Flex: Regular Configuration: 5-GW
Really stoked on these so far, never tried single length and wow it what I’ve always wanted in golf, not a guessing game with each different club. I’m not a great player but I can keep up, and these clubs have helped my game a lot. Noticeable longer ball flight, nice feel when they contact the ball. Bought a second set a couple days ago for my dad, single length for the win, I don’t care what the purists say! Great value for the money ... show more

  • Missing 6 Clubs, Even After Replacement
Hand Orientation: Right Shaft Material: Steel Flex: Regular Configuration: 5-GW
When ordering this set of clubs, I only received one club instead of the full set of seven. I requested a replacement, but unfortunately the same issue happened again—I received just one club. If you're only looking for a single club, this might work for you, but it’s definitely not accurate if you’re expecting the complete set. ... show more

  • Single Length Clubs Just Make Sense
Hand Orientation: Right Shaft Material: Steel Flex: Regular Configuration: 5-GW
Took me a couple of rounds to fully adjust, but these clubs have knocked off a solid 10 strokes per 18-holes. (I play all of the tees, so hard to say exactly.) I used to shoot mid to low 90s on a good day; 100+ on a bad day. Since switching, my WORST 18 hole score is an 88 from the blue tees. All scores have been 85 - 88. I've never hit so many pure shots before. Accuracy is great. I use JumboMax XL STR8 Tech grips which are far superior to the stock grips. Everyone should be using single length clubs in my opinion. You WILL hit more consistent shots, you just have to stick with it. I recently picked up the Mazel 60° chipper, which also knocked a solid 5 shots off my round. Combined with thses clubs, I shot a +4 40 on 9-holes from the white tees yesterday. Had you asked me prior to these clubs, shooting that low would have been a pipe dream for me. Looks like I have played 144 holes with these clubs, plus multiple driving range sessions. No problems with durability. For $180 bucks you can't go wrong. Sidenote: I see nearly all of the 1-star reviews are from people complaining of receiving just one club instead of the full set. Apparently there was a fulfillment issue at some point? The current overall rating is 3.8-stars as of 7 August 25. Get rid of those unrelated reviews and I bet you'd be pushing 4.5-stars for the actual clubs. ... show more

  • Finally Affordable Single Lengths!!
Hand Orientation: Right Shaft Material: Steel Flex: Regular Configuration: 5-GW
I hesitated to write this review until I used these for a couple months because I was sure they’d break… they didn’t! I received every club mentioned (GW-5i) and they all matched the description. This was my first experience with single length clubs and they were awesome! The feel was amazing, they look solid, and you just can’t beat the price tag for a set of single length irons. This is a great tool for any early golfer and I’m already recommending them to some friends that want to get into golf without breaking the bank. If you’re scared of the reviews of “only receiving one club”, I think it’s worth it to try it out because worst case scenario Amazon just gives you a refund and you buy a different set. Great clubs Olimar, thank you for making single length accessible! ... show more
