Used it once and have already had a locking bolt lose the ball bearing that locks it in place. Of course when that pops out, it flies across your garage and you'll never find it. And the "case" that it comes with is simply a foam holder inside the cardboard box it ships in. Not a case, I feel that's a bit of a false advertisement. Really too bad because I like the overall design. Having the 1/2 inch holes for your wrench at the top of the bolts makes things super easy. The bolt threads are thick and smooth and turn great. But I'm sure I'm going to lose the rest of the ball bearings making the tool less safe, and unless I figure something out about a case these are going to rust at an accelerated pace. 3.5/5. These spring compressors were very easy to use. My son made quick work of what could of been a very long day. And the price for such a versatile tool is unmatched. They are very well Add and have nice sturdy safety pins. Make certain that you use these pins.

I've had bad experiences in the past dealing with removing top hats but this made it a breeze and I love the locking slides but one broke on the first strut I did BUT I still managed to use it for the other struts, I just had to angle the lock so it'd still be somewhat secure. all in all this kit is very convenient, wish it came in a portable protective box of some sort. ... show more

    • Excellent option, only MEANT to work with springs on structs, NOT stand along coil springs.
I bought this to compress a rear coil spring. Its build well and VERY heavy duty but unfortunately I returned it because it was obvious to me that I didn't have the clearance for these for REAR coil springs. Upon further investigation, I missed that the description said for compressing springs in Struts. I would buy this again and even considered keeping it for future use... but for the price of springs vs struts, I would probably never replace a broken spring without doing the whole strut. ... show more

At first glance this tool looks nice, sturdy, etc. during my first use one of them failed. While I was tightening the shaft the nut sheared off ensuring that I the user had a big surprise! Luckily I had one side compressed or I’d likely have no teeth at this point or worse. Needed to complete the job so I welded the nut back on the shaft and kept my distance the best I could! I liked the safety pins, but to have a strut compressed and the tool fail is not a comfortable experience! These should come With a clean pair of shorts if they aren’t going to ensure the tool stays together more than 5 minutes into a job!! ... show more
