I use it with my Oculus Quest 2 VR for hand tracking with lights out. Also works very well for night vision using the headset and IR light. I was able to walk around and do tasks with ease in the house in the total dark. For those saying they can only see when very close up it's more than likely they are using a low light camera and not an IR light capable camera. Most digital cameras can pickup some IR but very little. It is actually filtered out deliberately. Most smart phones can pick it up if shined straight at the camera. IPhones do not they usually totally filter out IR light. An IR Camera in IR or night vision mode will be pretty much a black and white or gray scale image. I never seen one in color. This IR light is bright enough if you look straight at it in the dark without a camera you can see the slight glow of red. If you see that the light is working as it should. If your camera is seeing color and little or no light then it doesn't have real night vision. I hope this helps some. The price is a little high for what it is but it's the lowest I have seen and it seems to work good for now. I would recommend giving it a try. I ordered this product for a boost in my night vision (IR) camera, but when I got it the base plate was completely broken so that it could not be attached to the shoe on the camera. I jerry-rigged a way to use it anyway, but it was obvious that the packaged had been opened and torn - meaning that someone else returned it and the supplier shipped it to me knowing it was broken. ... show more

Worked pretty good, we used it on one of our smaller ir camera’s to video night time, was nice having a built in rechargeable battery and a built in cold shoe to connect to top of camera.. it does get quite warm when running for some time? I’ve had no issues yet but putting that out and if your filming more than say the length of a good sized room it not gonna work for you we had to add to get that far out ... show more

I bought this to enhance the little bitty IR light on the Canon XA 11. I wish it had a little more distance, and there doesnt seem like mch of a difference when switching from the half to full lighting. That said, it does its job very well, and holds a charge for a long time, and I love that I can recharge the battery instead of buying loads of batteries....which is a pain after a while. ... show more

There aren't a lot of choices for cold shoe mounted infrared illuminators so I gave this one a try. It makes a great deal of infrared light so much that I usually use switched to half so it will certainly work for you if you need a lot of infrared light. It's a floodlight formation though so don't expect a spotlight. The only negative I would say is the extra cold shoe on top of it was crooked but I didn't but it to use that part so it's still a 5 star to me. ... show more

Not a spotlight. More of a floodlight. Indoors it is very bright. Outdoors it works up to around 20ft. Overall, good for the money. Battery life has been very good. Lasting for hours of intermittent use in the same night.

I use this to play with my Quest headset with all the lights turned off. It's really portable, so, I've also used it outside to play at night. It's rather bright and directional, so, you need to reflect it off the ceiling, floor or something else, directly into the headset os overwhelming. Fantastic device! ... show more
