Nice uniquely designed mechanism for operating the brush head which works really well at providing a very thorough cleaning with 3 different cleaning modes. The 3 modes of cleaning are quickly cycled through by pressing the only button on the unit. I guess your choice of speed or action would depend on how sensitive your gums may be or just a personal preference. You are given a 2 min, unique vibration warning, for each quadrant of your mouth so you know when to move on to a new area which is standard in better electric brushes. The brush is small enough to reach into all the small spaces and navigate around easily and has enough power to do a very good cleaning. if you apply too much pressure while brushing, the unit will have a sudden and noticeable slow-down as a warning and the light on the handle turns red. I'm not sure if the small red light is all that useful unless you happen to be watching for it in a mirror while brushing but the slow down in speed is noticeable and works good at letting you know you're applying too much pressure. It will automatically return to normal operation speed when the pressure is back to normal. A feature I wish it had, would be for it to remember what my last selection for the operating mode was and return to that when first turned on again so I wouldn't have to cycle through them to get to the one I always use but that's a minor thing and my other electric brush doesn't have that feature either and at this price point, not expected. I also wish the kit came with more than one brush but at the current price of $70, not a bad deal at all but personally, I would rather pay a little more and have 1-2 extra brushes already on hand. It seems to be built with quality and durability in mind but I haven't had it long enough to speak on that. If it should prematurely fail, I will update here later. Overall, a very nice product and a good value.

I will kick this review off by stating that I think this iO Series 2 toothbrush is overpriced - you are likely paying more for the limited edition/color. This toothbrush is interesting - it appears to use a magnetic driver rather than a vibrating prong found on the majority of electric toothbrushes. This means that you need special toothbrush heads and the previous style of heads will NOT work (or even fit) on this model. But this one comes with exactly ONE toothbrush head which I think is not good value for the price. It's good with battery life, and I found the cleaning to be excellent - maybe the best of any electric toothbrush that I have ever tried. You are paying for that quality, however. You need a dedicated charger base (rather than charging via something universal, like USB C), also included. Charging is reasonable in terms of time, and mine came charged already. There are various settings and you can pretty easily change the default (but have to follow the included instructions since there is only one button). The timer is a nice feature. This model also includes a warning for using too much pressure when brushing - that would be handy, but it consists of only a red light on the button, which in my case was mostly covered up by my thumb when I was using it to brush my teeth. Unless you are in front of a mirror while brushing and maybe even looking for it, you could easily miss that red light pressure warning. I have some concerns about longevity - not because it isn't well-made or sturdy (it is both), but because when rinsing I think water could eventually get into the magnetic driver mechanism at the top of the toothbrush, and I'm guessing that would not be good for it. I am also guessing that not many people would be inclined to regularly turn this thing upside down to let it drain if that happened. All in all, this is a very good toothbrush with an interesting design, with some flaws in execution.

I’ve never been disappointed with an Oral-B product, and this is no exception. I’ve been using an Oral-B Pro for the last few years and wanted to give their IO toothbrushes a try. This particular model is geared up for sensitive gums and, as promised, it is much gentler than my Pro model with a Pro toothbrush. For one, the bristles are definitely softer, and two, the pressure sensitive monitor ensures that you don’t press too hard. Should you push the brush head against your gums/teeth with too much pressure, the rpm’s decrease as a gentle (literal) reminder to relax and slow down. I imagine that after a few weeks it will throughly have you trained. The toothbrush has 3 settings: Super Sensitive, Gentle, and Daily Clean, with the latter being exactly like my older Pro model. Personally, I like the Daily Clean mode with the new gentle bristle brush head. Of course, choice of mode and brush head is highly subjective and you'd want to experiment with the options. It has the quadrant timer function that the other Oral-B (and most of its competitors) have to ensure that all corners of your mouth are covered. This model comes with a travel case which certainly comes in handy; however, I do think it would be even more helpful and cost efficient to the user if they included both the gentle brush along with the standard, firmer, head. This model also comes in a peach color which I think is a bit out of the ordinary, if bathroom decor matching affects your buying decision. All in all, a quality Oral-B electric toothbrush for those who prefer/need gentler gum care.
