This is my first auto-inflating life jacket and there are a lot of instructions. They aren't difficult to understand and the jacket has permanent instructions on waterproof plastic within the jacket sleeves. There is a well written book that explains the care and use of the mechanisms and tells you how to fold it up after a monthly (in use) testing for leaks of the bladder. The jacket is very lightweight. I expected it to be much heavier around the CO2 cartridge area. It is comfortable to wear and I highly recommend manually inflating it with the manual valve (not the CO2 cartridge) and then adjusting the strap. Don't adjust the strap when it 's not inflated or it will be extremely tight when it inflates. Happy with the purchase and I'm ready to try it out on a fishing trip. ... show more

I didn't wear a life preserver while kayaking until a park ranger at my local state park told me it's required, so I bought an inflatable for the convenience. It's more comfortable and less confining. I considered manual inflation only but decided that automatic inflation is safer if I flip my boat and hit my head on a rock or something though I rarely paddle in class 3 rapids. I set it up for manual inflation when I received it. Disabling or enabling the automatic inflation feature could be simpler. It's enough trouble that I'll be tempted not to enable it when I should, but I haven't seen an auto/manual vest that's any simpler. ... show more

in love with the pattern and does the job! easy to replace and install cartridge. Definitely recommend if you sail of spend time on boats in the water. Love the little mesh bag it comes in to hang and let dry.

I love that it’s compact and doesn’t feel bulky like conventional life jackets. And, it works just like it’s supposed to. I’m a newbie to kayaking and wore it on my second trip (after wearing a bulky jacket on my first). I did great on the float, however I fell into the water getting out of the kayak - and it inflated immediately when it hit the water.
