I'll admit, I'm using this a bit more than for it's actual use. I'm going to preface by saying that it is a great kayak seat, it's super water resistant and it's a lot more comfortable than just sitting on bare plastic. For the rest of this review I'm going to talk about how I ended up using it. I'm currently sitting on it on my office chair with a thin cushion on top of it to support my butt. It's a lot more comfortable than my terrible office chair seat, and it does a lot more than the cushion on it's own. It's design is like that of a box spring for a mattress. I use the cushion as the actual mattress, and the comfort is leagues beyond what I imagined it could bring. Support is great on the bottom and it doesn't slide at all with it's anti grip cover. On it's own I found my lower back getting numb after an hour of continuous use, so the extra support from a blanket or thin pillow is NEEDED! Even on a kayak, I found myself being a bit numb after a bit. I cannot recommend using this more as a box spring, like I mentioned earlier. On it's own it's not great, but with extra support it's fantastic.

Depending on your sensitivity, you may or may not like the waffle design of this seat cushion. Yes, it does cushion, but you will probably start to feel the waffle pattern before your paddle excursion is over. I have a different type of cushion for my other kayak that is a solid gel type, and I think it is much more comfortable.

Full disclosure, I didn't buy this for a kayak. I got it to move around with me on a small sail boat. So far, it's done its job just fine with no signs of deformation from the cushion. I was a bit put off by the feel of the cells at first, but with minor adjustments to position (basically the kind of wiggling I do anyway), I haven't noticed any hot spots or pressure points from this cushion. The carrying bag is made from really solid material, and I expect to get a long life's worth of use out of this cushion. Definitely a good choice for the price-point.

The media could not be loaded. It’s a little small for my taste, but I guess it needs to be to be so packable and to be able to fit in the kayak. It’s so nice that it’s rubbery so you don’t have to worry about it getting gross if it gets wet. The one thing I wasn’t crazy about it that it rises up pretty high in the tailbone area, I’m sure some people will love this feature but personally I like when these types of cushions are just one height. Overall a really neat product that does a good job of cushioning a hard seat.

Wish I had this years ago. My kayak seat is lightly padded, and that's not enough when doing a full day of paddling. I like that it has a honeycomb form to it to prevent slipping and to allow water a path to drain out. Now, I am a little confused why it comes in a zipper bag in addition to a pouch. You can sit on it with it still in the zipper bag, and water can seep in/out. Regardless - glad I got this!
