  • Motion Detection Works Well, Be Aware of Power Limitation
Motion detection works great, range is adequate for most residential needs, and there is a timer dial to set how long the lights will stay on for. If you are using this for only a single light, it's a good choice. If you want to use this to turn on multiple lights, it may be best to look for a sensor with a higher current rating. Read on for more information. The main reason that I like to get these standalone motions sensors (vs. motion sensor + light combos), is that multiple motions sensors like this one can be wired up to multiple lights. You can connect the red wire from this motion sensor to the red wires of as many other motion sensors as you like, and connect that same red wire to the hot (usually black) input on all your lights. This will allow for one or more motion sensors to turn on one or more lights, however you want to set it up. It's a great way to do security lighting because you can have an array of lights come on when any of the motion sensors are triggered. The problem with this particular unit from Onforu is that the current rating is very low. This sensor claims to only be able to handle 200 watts of LED lights. That is usually more than enough for a single light, but not a lot if you are adding multiple fixtures to the circuit. At 120 volts, a 200 watt rating is only around 1.66 amps. This is why I can't recommend this sensor for controlling larger arrays of lights. ... show more

  • Great improvement over original sensor
This motion sensor added a bunch of improved functions to the motion sensor security light next to our chicken coop. The old sensor did not have a dusk to dawn feature, 120° angle and 25 foot range of detection. I replaced a motion sensor on a fixture that was only a year old, the Onforu sensor had a silicone O-ring seal on the threads to help keep moisture out of the fixture. Wiring it one was a matter of replacing wire for wire. Onforu did supply a set of instructions that would enable the user to add this sensor to a non-sensor based fixture. As for performance, the motion detection detection range is excellent. It picked up a fox approaching the chicken coop at approximately 60 feet. When the coyotes are in the area I set the sensor for dusk to dawn operation; the light comes on about 30 minutes before the sun disappears behind the mountains and shuts off as the sun begins to crest the horizon. It is controlling two 20W (200W) equivalent LED flood lights. This is the second Onforu product I have used for our outdoor lighting needs. Their products have proven very reliable. These are an excellent value for setting up custom low maintenance security (motion detection) or landscape lighting (dusk-dawn). ... show more

  • Good Replacement Part
Date: Fri Jan 12 2024 Item: Onforu Motion Sensor, Dusk to Dawn Detector, Timer... VINE DISCLAIMER: -------------------------------- In the spirit of full disclosure, I received this product free as part of the Amazon Vine program. My methodology for Vine Program products is to give a more thorough -- often product-destructive -- review. If I like the product, I buy my own version of it, otherwise, it gets donated post-testing. I may include my opinion on the product's value proposition to the market. REVIEW: -------------------------------- Used this to add the motion activation functionality to a light that came without it, so far no issues. It was easy to wire and the unit has the usual range/time setting dials you'd expect with these, we'll see if these last .. the cheap ones tend to die within a year. END NOTE: -------------------------------- And with all the reviews I do, if there's ever a problem with this product, I will edit (if able) to update this review. These will be denoted in an "UPDATES" section. ... show more

  • Wire too short
The wire length should be 6 inches atleast. Harder than it should be to connect inside a electric box.

  • Works better than a broken one...
I replaced an old version of something similar that worked only part of the time. This was easy to install onto a box with a standard half inch threaded hole. Controls are easy to adjust and it's quick to respond. It also seems to false much less than the old one. Plants doesn't seem to trigger this as much as other brands I've tried. Great way to add motion sensing to existing or decorative style light fixtures. ... show more

  • Saved me from purchasing and installiing a new floodlight.
The previous motion sensor on my flood lights broke. As a work around I tied the wires together so that the lights were always on. Electricity is expensive nowadays. Got this Onforu motion sensor flood light attachment to save myself money. This sensor controls two flood lights. It was a bit hard to install for me. My flood light is directional and required that the round screw be shaved down on two sides in order to fit. I was able to do this with a dremel. This does not come with the large Nut that is needed to secure the sensor on the inside. Hopefully you still have the old nut for installation. The other thing that made this tricky to install is that the wires are short. So short that I need to get extra wire to install it. I'm taking off one start because of the missing nut and short wires. Other than that this is a good unit. The motion sensor is accurate and adjustable. The dusk to dawn feature also works perfectly. It it a bit hard to see the small icons on the switch once it's installed above so take a picture to get a close look. Less expensive and easier than replacing the entire flood light. Make sure you mount it with the switches facing down or water will get inside. ... show more

  • Automatic light level switch
This is great for your night illumination. Totally automatic , no forgotten manual switching. Wires up either at the light or at a more responsive spot if needed. Once installed you are done. No adjustments needed for short winter days or early darkness on cloudy days either. No batteries needed.
