  • Enjoyed (mostly) sleeping in this
Color: Camouflage
It's been many MANY years since I went camping last, I'm thinking Girl Scouts back in the 70s, hubby did remind me that since we live 100% off grid I have lived like I'm camping in style for the last 10+ years, I'm quite used to sleeping colder than most other folk. I had a ladies retreat /camping trip coming up, primitive camping, and I had no sleeping bag. I knew the temps would be in the upper 30s to low 40s overnight, fires would be severely limited because of where we would be camping, so I needed a sleeping bag that would keep me warm, would be lightweight, I wanted down filling, and one that wouldn't break the bank. First thing I noticed about down sleeping bags is they are expensive! When I saw this sleeping bag, the price was right so I took a chance on it. It arrived quickly, I noted how compact it was, and how lightweight it was, something my fellow camp mates also noticed. I unpacked it for the first time at camp on my cot. It was more than long enough and large enough for me (I'm 5'4" and 200 lbs). I know enough about down to know that it compresses quite flat, to get the best insulative value, you need to fluff up the down, sort of like fluffing a pillow. It didn't seem to get much thicker, I just had to assume (read:hope) it was enough. The zipper worked fine for me, both inside and out, I read another reviewer who said there is a pocket inside of the bag for keys and such, I didn't know about that and never looked for it. The material inside and outside is nice, it's smooth inside so it's easy to slip in while fully clothed including my hiking boots, we were more or less outdoors and I wanted to be able to hit the deck running if necessary 😉. Being smooth inside also made it easier to turn over while in the bag. One thing I noticed, and it's strictly personal preference, I apparently don't care for the "mummy" style of sleeping bags, I like to be able to move my legs, I remedied that by not fully zipping up the bag the second night, I did have a military style green wool blanket to throw over the top to keep the drafts out since it wasn't zipped. I spent 2 nights sleeping in cold dry air and stayed comfortable, my fellow camp mates did complain about the cold especially first thing in the morning, I was toasty warm, but then again I'm used to sleeping cold, I have good sleeping clothes and use wool blankets to keep warm at home. I was able to get it rolled back up and stuffed into the compression bag with not much trouble. I really appreciate how compact and lightweight it is, it's also quite handsome both rolled up and in use. I would use this sleeping bag in all but the coldest temps, it worked fine for me in the high 30s/low 40s F, no wind and dry. I would love to find this same sleeping bag in a non-mummy style. I do look forward to using it for years to come. ... show more

  • A dang good bag
Color: Camouflage
The bag itself is well made, soft to touch and works well for what I used it for. Overnighted in the desert last month feb/20 40° temps The bag was extremely warm with and without clothes, was able to be zipped easily and could easily hold myself, a pair of boots, and excess clothes (i like my clothes to be warm when i wake up) in conjuction with the pad i used it was extremely comfortable. The only issue i had was finding the head pull to close the top up a bit but thats user error in the dark. ... show more

  • Reliable quality warm affordable. Get this one.
Color: Camouflage
Love this thing. I've used it almost everyday for a year or so now and no issues at all. Sure it's half the price of its name brand competitors so you have sewn through baffles but in every other way the quality is there. Its warm. I've used it in the freezing night temps at 10000 feet in utah without base layers or a quality pad and tent. And was toasty while my friends shivered in their fancier bags. And I run cold. The zippers have never failed, nothing has ripped or come undone, the material remains as it was. The only thing I've noticed is the printed label has worn off. It packs super small and the compression sack is perfect and reliable. Roomy for my wide hips at 48 inches or a 16 womens. Long enough for a taller person perhaps a comfortable 6ft. No issues so far with down escaping even at the seems. Like I said this is my nightly bag, I travel with it and use it every night in a bed and out on the road. Has not failed me yet. If I get a new bag the only thing I'd change is id pay more for a lower temp rating. Update dec 2020: After a while i noticed cold spots and found the down had clumped up. Also seems the waterproof outer coating wore off. That is all fixable with a detailed fluffing and a new spray coat for $10.00 at your local outdoors gear store. Also both something youll see with any bag when you use it as much as i do. Still holding up. Im looking to upgrade though, 32 degrees is a fair rating right out of the bag, but performance on any bag wanes with use. Ill be getting a 0 degree soon to compensate. Cheers fellow wanderers. ... show more
