  • Feature packed camera that punches above it's weight, but held back by plastic
Color: Silver Style: without kits Set: Camera Only
I have now owned and used this camera for over two full years, so I now feel confident enough to leave a review. There are plenty of reviews out there that will talk about specs, image quality, lenses available, etc. etc. I will stick to things that I really appreciate about the camera and what I find disappointing. Pros: - Weather sealing is fantastic. I bought this primarily to take pictures while out in the wilderness hiking/backpacking and it has held up well. I've shot in rain, snow, cold, heat, windy, etc. It's resisted all the elements (except for fire and with a weather sealed lens to match). - Spectacular features. Live composite is fun to play with. Focus stacking is super neat. Auto focus is fast and accurate. But my favorite feature has become the Pro Capture. I've gotten into wildlife photography and ProCap lets you shoot so fast and the pre-buffer is essential when you can't time an animal just right. I am always blown away by how many cool features this camera has. - IBIS is still the best I've seen. For landscapes and other static subjects, you can get down to slower than 1 second handheld and still have sharp images. I pair mine with the 12-100 lens and the sync IS is sweet. Con - Plastic body... When this camera came out I read all the reviews about the plastic body being such a let down and I thought, "what a bunch of cry babies. Who cares if it's plastic or metal, so long as it doesn't break and shoots photos." Well, after two years of use and abuse, I've got to say that the plastic body does have me worried -- specifically because I use the Peak Design Capture Clip. I have seen many horror pictures of people who use the same clip I do and the tripod mounting has ripped right off of this camera. I've banged and bruised my camera and it's held up well. But there is a small crack that has developed across the body near the tripod mount! Ever since I noticed this, I have been incredibly careful with the camera and my use of the peak design clip. But this is such a bummer, because the capture clip has been essential to me capturing moments quickly and easily while out on the trail. For a camera that is really marketed towards adventure photography, it's a real let down to find out I can't use the capture clip -- an accessory that is frequently used by adventure photographers. - The only other con is that this camera isn't balanced super well for my really big (for 4/3s) 100-400 olympus lens. But that's to be expected when you buy this teeny tiny camera. ... show more

  • Returned the Nikon Z50 for this, so HAPPY!
Color: Silver Style: without kits Set: Camera Only
Before I give my review of this awesome camera, a little background on my photography journey. I learned the basics of photography on a Nikon D5300 (over 5yrs ago), then over time I upgraded to a full frame D750. After years of shooting for fun and semi-professionally, I decided to down size and I purchased a used Olympus Em10 mark I. This is when I fell in love with the M43 format as the size and portability allowed me to take my camera everywhere and with that, some of my favorite images were on my Olympus. Coupled with some good glass like the Panny 20mm 1.7, the images were amazing and SHARP. Fast forward to today, I decided to try out the new Nikon Z50 as a way to go full Nikon and possibly get rid of my Olympus. Not because of image quality, but the autofocus on the Em10 Mark I (over 7 yr old camera) was slow especially when trying to track my daughter. I used the Z50 for a little over a week and sure the images were great as was the autofocus, but I hated having to use the Z adapter to use my other glass as it added more bulk which defeated the purpose of such a small camera. To sum things up, I returned the Z50 and ultimately purchased the Olympus em5 mark iii and I could not be happier. The Em5 mark iii sensor is a big improvement from the older 16mp m43 sensor, the dynamic range is GREAT, low light has definitely improved, and 20mp is perfect for whatever I need to shoot. As for image comparisons with the Z50 vs Em5 iii, I can honestly say the the Em5 iii is neck and neck with the Z50. The kit lens on the Z50 is stellar and portrays excellent color and sharpness but nothing the Em5 iii can't do. Once you throw on some good glass, the Olympus really shows you what it can do and that updated sensor shines! Overall, I am extremely happy with this camera. The JPEG colors are vibrant and pop, the stabilization is incredible, the autofocusing is SOOOO much better, the PRO capture is awesome for bird photography, and the EVF is probably the best I've used. If you're a M43 user or someone looking into getting into the format, this is a great camera with the ability to shoot casually AND professionally especially with the amazing M43 glass out there. • Be mindful of seller
Color: Silver Style: without kits Set: Camera w/ 14-150mm Black Lens Kit
The camera was good. Lens was amazing. Problem is- I knew I was getting a used camera from a shop based out of New York..everything looked great but I noticed a spot on all of my photos. There was mold damage on the sensor!!!!!!!!!!!! I returned it for a full refund thankfully but I thought this was sneaky...they were selling a camera as used like new. I was so happy with my purchase. I thought there was lint in the sensor so I ordered additional supplies (which I needed anyway for proper maintenance) nothing worked. Asked a pro who told me mold infiltration actually etched the sensor! Almost an expensive lesson. So thankful for Amazon's return policy :) ... show more

  • My search is over!
Color: Silver Style: without kits Set: camera w/12-45mm Lens Kit
I have been looking for a tiny form camera that takes better pictures than my cell phone (Samsung S22 Ultra). I am just the everyday amateur photographer. I have tried several high end point and shoots to no avail. I was a bit skeptical ordering the Olympus M5 but wanted to see if it really was as good as some of the reviews. In short, my answer is yes! The Olympus is definitely a keeper. The photos are day and night sharper and clearer than my phone and my wife's Iphone 14 Pro Max. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm F4.0 PRO Lens is phenomenal. The form factor is very small, so this will be coming with me on all of my future travels stuffed away in my cargo pants pocket. In case you are wondering, the plastic body feels very solid to me. so I have no concerns regarding toughness. The M5 is weather sealed which is an added bonus. There are so many lenses to choose from. The M5 can be operated in auto like a point and shoot, or it can be used in manual with all of the options that one would expect. I love this camera. ... show more
