Description

Like the Olympus OM-D E-M1, the new Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150 mm 1:2.8 PRO (80-300 mm 35 mm equivalent) zoom lens is dust, splash and freezeproof - standout in the pro class. 'Too long, too big and too heavy' is the professional verdict on the DSLR competition, so Olympus made this lens more compact and lighter than a typical full-frame lens with comparable characteristics and scope of performance. They also made it a record-holder - by incorporating the first-ever focusing system to power two high-grade lens elements using dual linear motors. Which means it's extremely quick to focus. What's more, it's very quiet, so it's ideal for shooting easily frightened wildlife as well as other fleeting subjects, for example, at sports events, but also perfect for weddings. With a minimum focus distance of just 70cm at all focal lengths, a dedicated Fn button, manual focus clutch and a sliding, protective lens hood, the new M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150 mm 1:2.8 PRO is both versatile and easy to use. With a very large zoom range and a maximum aperture of 1:2.8 at all focal lengths, its optical performance is likewise outstanding. For anyone in need of even more zoom power, the 1.4x Teleconverter boosts the zoom range of the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150 mm 1:2.8 PRO (80-300 mm 35 mm equivalent) to 420 mm. At just 15 mm slim, it's a light, easy-to-carry addition to the serious photographer's kit. It nevertheless matches the robust, metal-cased, dust, splash and freezeproof build quality of the rest of the PRO lens range - making it ideal for shooting out in the field, even in the rain. • Best M.Zuiko lens I've owned...
Style: 40-150mm 1:2.8 PRO Lens
Hesitated to buy this, even though I needed a long tele. Much prefer fixed focals, coming from the old Zuiko line of the 80's. Wow! This lens is perfect in every regard. Chinced on the "grey market" version thinking it would not get much use. I am constantly swapping between this lens and the 8mm fish! And the macro side of the lens is very sweet. Go... ... show more

  • Amazing piece of glass, especially on a Lumix G9!
Style: 40-150mm 1:2.8 PRO Lens with MC-1.4
Awesome lens! Nothing like it in any other system. I have it paired with a Panasonic Lumix G85 and G9 (among other Lumix models). The IBIS is excellent and the lens performs well. I love this thing! And, the Fn button on the side works with the DC-G9! I have it set for focus-on and it's awesome. If you have a body with IBIS and need a telephoto, this is a no-brainer. I'll keep my 35-100/2.8 for the smaller size, weight, and IS with other panasonic bodies, but this 40-150mm will forever be attached to my newer bodies!!!! Cannot recommend this lens highly enough! ... show more

  • Amazing versatility and image quality
Style: 40-150mm 1:2.8 PRO Lens with MC-1.4
Amazing versatility and image quality. A large and heavy lens (by M43 standards), but I still carry it around in my bag almost all the time. The 1.4x convertor is the perfect companion, so far image quality doesn't seem to be impacted by the converter, which adds another 60mm (120 mm by Full Frame Standards) to the zoom end of this lens, but you lose an f stop in brightness. Converter works seamlessly with my OMD EM5 Mii, which reads it as an f4 56-210mm lens. I also have the Panny 35-100 2.8, I carry the heavier Oly as it is more versatile and - in my eyes - produces slightly sharper images than the Panny. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • If you are interested do not hesitate it is absolute gold!
Style: 40-150mm 1:2.8 PRO Lens with MC-1.4
Wow, just wow! Kidding this lens is everything you hoped for and is absolutely smaller than it appears especially for its aperture and focal range. So fast to focus and accurate. I have used the 4/3 50-200 on both 4/3 and micro four thirds which with the teleconverter is the closest comparison this lens is by far sharper and faster to focus. I also have owned the Panasonic 35-100/2.8 and it is equally great in a more compact size but limited to 100mm vs 150mm range. Both are spectacular lens built to be flagship models in their respective lineup. On an aside I ordered from J-made and it arrived in less than a week all the way from Japan and at almost 25% less than local and no sales tax...awesomene seller and tremendous lens. ... show more

  • Bought it for poorly lit indoor rodeos - not disappointed!
Style: 40-150mm 1:2.8 PRO Lens
Sharp photos, even at wide open aperture. Focus is fast, even in low light (requiring iso of 8000 or more for fast shutter speeds), although there is occasional focus search. Certainly the heaviest lens I use with my Oly OM-D E-M10, but I can shoot hand-held for 3 - 4 hrs without tiring. Seems to hold focus well even while zooming. I've attached a photo in two versions: shot raw (post-processed with Raw Therapee) and jpeg right out of the camera (slightly underexposed): f/3.2, 1/320 sec, ISO 8000, 82mm. ... show more
