Very nice flashlight - recommended by the Wirecutter review site. I has different intensity levels and it remembers the last level used when you turn it back on. The highest level is extremely bright and the lowest is quite dim. I like that it has a long-lasting rechargeable battery with an on board indicator of charge level. Charging is accomplished by attaching a magnetic cap to the end and plugging into a USB-A port. The end of the flashlight is magnetic and I have found it very handy to attach the light to something metallic so I have both hands free. Not cheap but quality rarely is. ... show more

    • A Small Step Backwards From the Baton II I One Way

I have carried the S2R Baton II everyday for a couple of years and have loved it. It's the perfect light for my needs. Overtime it has taken a beating. It still works, but the lens has started to crack, the button is not quite the same, the yellow battery level indicator light inside the button doesn't work, and it's in rough shape overall. When I saw the Baton 3 on sale I ordered it. It's suppose to be a slightly updated version of the Baton II, and it is, but there is one reason I haven't started carrying it yet. I usually leave my Baton II on medium mode. Medium is enough light for most of the situations I'm in and the flashlight doesn't heat up rapidly in medium like it does on high, or especially in 'turbo' mode. When I need more light than medium I typically double-click the power button to go right into turbo. I usually only need the brighter light for a short duration, then I do another quick double-click and the Baton II will go instantly go back to whatever light mode previously used - in my case medium. It's very quick and handy. What I don't like about the Baton 3 is that double-clicking will get you right into turbo mode just like the Baton II, but double-clicking it again does nothing. It just stays in turbo mode. At this point there are only two options to get out of turbo mode and back to your default mode. Unfortunately, turning the light off and then on again puts my light into 'high' mode. It does NOT return the light to your default setting. You must then hold the power button down to cycle through the settings. The other option is while in turbo mode, press and hold the power button. This will also cycle through the settings. I know it's a small complaint, but it's annoying when this light has been upgraded in every other way, but has become less 'handy' due a minute change in the single-button user interface. Many times I'm trouble shooting an issue in a large room at work and it's very handy to rapidly switch modes back and forth. The Baton II does this effortlessly in less than a second. I'm was tired of using up AAA batteries in small flashlights. I needed a good flashlight for the late night, last dog outing before bed, especially since I have skunks and other critters out when I'm out with my dogs. This flashlight is fantastic. It has a very bright, wide range light and the recharge mechanism is the easiest you'll find on any device. The only thing I don't like is the long clip, I guess it's for pants, but who wears a flashlight on their pants? ... show more
