This watch, while nicely packaged (actually, maybe too packaged, more on that below) , and of good quality, was NOT what I was expecting in terms of the size of the face. It's often hard to get a sense of size of jewelry from a photo, and I thought the face was going to be similar in size to my current watch. (See photo of watches next to quarter and 2 Euro to give you a better sense of size. ) Undoubtedly, the most unique feature of this watch is it's cone shaped glass cover over the face of the watch. I've tried to capture it in a photo, but it's not easy to capture unless you are at just the right angle. It's very interesting for a design! At the right angles it almost refracts light like the cut of a diamond. I'm not sure if this will make the face more prone to damage, scratches, or cracking, but it's certainly unique! The watch comes with clear instructions on how to adjust the feature display of day of the week and date, but GOOD LUCK reading the display if you have eyes over 50+ years old! It's so tiny I need a magnifying glass to see it! OF NOTE: Buried in fine print on pg. 16 you will find instructions NOT to adjust date and time between 21h and 3am because it may damage the automatic adjustments the Olev watch is undergoing to update time and date during these hours. YIKES! Hope I wasn't in between these "witching hours" whenever I first received the watch and was totally struggling to find sufficient light to see and adjust the TINY day of week and date display! I'm removing a star (and would remove 1.5 if I could) for this design feature; It's not practical for older eyes based on inability to see day of the week and date. In addition, the color was not quite as expected. This is more of a brassy copper gold, not a true gold color. I ordered this to wear with a uniform that had gold buttons and the color of this watch doesn't really match. The watch is powered by battery, and it's a quartz watch which works with an electronic oscillator with high accuracy (timing error within range of -20 to +50 seconds for those of you who like the detailed stats). It regulates the time by quartz crystal, which is reportedly "an order of magnitude more accurate " than a mechanical watch (and reportely easier to maintain). Given it's price at over $100, I would expect this level of accuracy and low maintenance for the price. The addition of the tool (and clear instructions) to adjust the size of the band is appreciated, as it was slightly large on my small wrists. Overall, this watch has a slightly dated, your grandmother's watch, vibe in my humble opinion. It would be well suited to smaller wrists and hands and, based on color, would likely not pair as well with your gold rings and jewelry. I really wanted to like this watch more. Overall, 3.5 stars (if possible to remove another half star) for all the critiques noted. However, it appears to be of sound quality and craftsmanship so I starred up. Finally, I note that there is a "Warranty Certificate" on the last page of the instruction manual, but I struggled to find mention of what the actual warranty period is within the booklet? Last but not least; the packaging. -This watch comes wrapped in a shrink wrap around the entire band, which I found rather overkill, and slightly frustrating to remove (granted I was tired at the time). In the end, I had to use a seam ripper to remove the plastic surrounding the band. It requires patience! But hey, with this watch, you've got the TIME (to do it). -And hey, why not end this review with a pun?! ... show more
