My son's bed does not require a box spring - the mattress is advertised as 7 inches high, which is true, but just check the depth of your bed frame first. I did not - our bed frame is about 6.5 inches deep, so the mattress JUST fits and on the edges it caves in when he sits on the side. It is comfortable, and it did take a full 2-3 days to fully reach it's 7 inches. It is a great price for a decent mattress. My son is 13, so I don't expect this to last into adulthood, but I think it will get the job done for a few years! ... show more
