I had all but given up on beef jerky ever being what I dreamed it might some day be. All that was left were reconstituted, over-processed, toothpaste tube-like some-kind-of-meatlike-substance OR Tiny pouches of multi-flavored bark. Then, a friend gave me some Old Trapper, Old Fashioned Beef Jerky. It was an epiphany. An oral orgasm. The kind of satisfying texture, flavor, moisture level and smell of my dreams for all these years. It is the best commercially available beef jerky EVER. How much do I like it? Enough to have bought two of these 10oz bags and eaten an entire bag right out of the Amazon box while my cats played with the packaging and looked, longingly, at my mana from heaven. The second bag was gone later that same day and all I could do was cry because I had only bought TWO bags. Get some. Nosh. Smile ear to ear. Sniff and lick your fingers when the bag is empty and go to bed knowing more is on the way from Amazon in two days :)

So some old trapper makes this stuff? Where do old trappers get sodium benzoate and sodium nitrite? Sears Roebuck catalog? I don't know but Old Trapper knows how to make jerky! Before this, I thought all jerky tastes and chews like an old trapper's leather boot. There is obviously no 'Link' between this and other jerky products. This one is like a mellow bourbon to be savored and experienced, not wolfed down like some other brands, to avoid gnawing on gristle and sinewy material. The texture is more refined. It has some tooth to it but not overly tough, nor does it melt in your mouth, leaving you yearning for a real piece of meat. The flavor is a perfect blend of not too sweet and not too salty. It's just right with a very slightly fruity undertone Teriyaki twist. How do old trappers know about teriyaki, anyway? Well, this one apparently does. In a world of seemingly endless brands and varieties of jerky, you can't go wrong trying this one!

Newest review - This package was delivered and looks like it had been dragged through the dirty. The bag of jerky was scratched up and the bag was wrinkled. The amazon packaging was in perfect condition so I'm assuming this happened before packaging. After opening the bag of jerky I knew it was rotten. There was a small hole punctured in the bag that made the jerky spoil. We have ordered this jerky a few times before so we knew that this one was spoiled. Unfortunately this item isn't eligible for return but just be cautious when ordering and hopefully this will help them be cautious when packaging. Previous review - Perfect keto snack! My husband and I are doing the keto diet and we get this jerky every week! It is more tender than previous sugar free jerky we have tried in the past. And it is a fantastic price! I have alerts set on Amazon when it is back in stock and order right away every time! The jerky is a tiny bit on the salty side so we can only eat a few pieces at a time, but that also keeps us from eating the whole bag! 😉

As stated the Old Fashioned I received was so salty, it was hard to eat. I am comparing this jerky with Pacific Gold which has been my favorite for over forty years. I have also made my own jerky for over twenty years. I only tried the Old Trapper brand because an old friend that enjoyed Pacific Gold as much as I did said they had switched to Old Trapper. The price is about the same, but Pacific Gold can sometimes be hard to get. I did order their peppered jerky, and it was not salty at all, and the pepper was mild. All I can think of at this point is that their quality control is not that good, and they let an over salted bag get through, but I will not be buying it anymore.

I have purchased this Brand to many times to count and it is a great tasting product. The teriyaki is my favorite and it’s not as hard as the peppered version, which I also like. It works very well to use in ramen to add some additional flavor. I generally don’t buy Jerky that much anymore because it gets stuck between my teeth, and then I have to go use my water pick to get it out. However , it’s a good source of protein while dealing with this Covid-19 situation. I had stopped eating jerky all together because of it getting stuck all in my gums and between my teeth, but this stuff is addictive. I’ve tried other brands and I feel like I get the best quality and amount for the price. It’s far better than other brands I’ve purchased in the past. The flavor is very good and the price is fair for the amount you get in each package. It is great for snaking and I would recommend this to anyone who likes jerky. I’ve purchased at least 25 or more packages of this product. Would be great to get a 2XL T-Shirt , Lol. This has been a great snack as well as a good source of protein as we’re still in lockdown since March 7th. This also taste incredible in a crock pot full of brown beans with cornbread.

There's nothing worse than frantically searching through your car for floss after munching on some beef jerky. Strings of beef stuck in your molars is quite possibly one of the most uncomfortable feelings known to man. This issue is non-existent with this succulent jerky! The pieces are large and substantial; they are perfectly chewy and do not leave strings in your teeth. The flavor is mildly reminiscent of teriyaki but with plenty of smoky undertones. I ate the bag in an embarrassingly short time but have no regrets. No holes, no mold, no worries. Buy this jerky for a caveman's candy dream!

When I opened the package and took a bite it was clear this batch were retail drys being recycled. Very disappointed because bought some fresh at the grocer (GF downtown IGA) and they were great. Worst of all this item cannot be returned. This "gotcha" stuff turns me off to Amazon and Old Trapper.
