  • It is easier to use than a stain because you don't have to sand anything or be perfect with application
This stuff really brought some of my old furniture back to life. It fills in the discoloration from rings and knicks etc. It is easier to use than a stain because you don't have to sand anything or be perfect with application. I used a rag and just did a few layers on the surface. I used it on a table from Big Lots and also on an antique wood cabinet and it came out great on both. • Surpassed my expectations
I used this Old English Scratch Cover for Dark Wood to treat a couple pieces of furniture, one that had only a few scratches, and one that was a train wreck. On the first one, it looked quite nice after applying. On the second one, I couldn't believe the difference it made! The 31-year-old (pine) piece was heavily worn and hadn't seen any real upkeep in its lifetime. After one application, the difference was like night and day. It doesn't look perfect, but we will probably keep it for a while now, even though we had considered getting rid of it because we thought it was beyond hope. I definitely recommend this product to rejuvenate wood furniture. Like others have said, it doesn't REMOVE anything, but cleans and darkens blemishes so they visually blend in. I've now gone over all the wood furniture in our living room and the overall difference is remarkable. The only minus I can mention is that I actually needed to use a magnifying glass to read the instructions on the label, the print is that small. That is one improvement I wish the manufacturer would make. Once you read the directions, follow them and you'll get excellent results. See photos attached. ... show more

  • Works very well!
This product is pretty awesome and cheap considering the results. Give it 4 stars, because the direction tell you to apply on a softcloth and then polish/luster it up, but when you do that, the scuff marks appear visible, just with a shine on them. What I've been doing lately is applying a thick layer and letting it dry. And then another one until I get the desired finish. With that being said, I would definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • Magic!
Super fast shipping. So purchased this desk from a seller with this product in mind. Got this desk for super cheap because it was cover in scratches. Gorgeous desk. So took it home and went to work with nothing but a rag and this bottle! Of course I wiped the table down from dust first. Anyhow the result speaks for itself. Instantly I saw results. Deeper scratches I add another coat but wow! Huge difference! Definitely recommend this product. It does not seem to help particle wood. As most furniture is made with. Doesn't absorb like wood does. So may not work for you if it's not wood. This saved so much time. I bought the light and dark just in case. This is using dark. ... show more

  • Just buy it and try it
I love this stuff. While it doesn't fill in scratches or gouges it really hides them. I use it on wood furniture all the time, and occasionally deep gouge in my wood floor. I tried it on a cherry colored antique silverware box and it made a big difference. Highly recommend as a quick fix

  • Great As a Cleaner and Scratch Cover
Have been using Old English for over 60 years. It's the best to cover scratched walnut colored wood. It's great for Kitchen cabinets. It will take off the grease from all the normal kitchen grime. Absorbs into dry wood well. It's a stain as well as an oil based product to rub off dirt. I can't find the DARK stain in the stores anymore, only the light which doesn't work on dark wood. Light Old English can polish up and clean the Dark wood but not conceal a scratch. This was a good price as well. My kitchen cabinets are 30 years old and look great. I've used it on dark walnut colored furniture as well. I've used other products but this is the best I've found. It's an oil so be careful not to spill on rugs or get it on the walls. ... show more

  • No one is telling is one big NEGATIVE
While this product does work BUT it leaves a lot of stain/residue behind. If you put this in a desk and then dont clean it up throughly, expect the color to transfer to anything you put on the table. also, if you clean it thoroughly, it looses its effectiveness. I am not impressed at all.

  • Works! Apply sparingly
We just moved into a house wherein we’d had the floors redone. In a fit of anxious excitement, our large dog jumped on the sofa in the middle of the living room, sending it sliding along the floor. Sliding isn’t the right word ... because there were big scratches on our newly refinished hardwood floors. (Yes. I blame the dog and take no responsibility for not having put pads on the feet of the sofa.) After some soft, silent sobbing into the pillows of the aforementioned sofa, I googled solutions to this problem. Old English was the first thing to pop up, and as a member of the 21st century, my attention span doesn’t take me past the first item in a google search. And thank you, Amazon, for allowing me to never have to leave my house unless I want to. The pictures speak for themselves. It was easy and the scratches are no longer readily visible. I applied the solution sparingly and WITH the grain of the wood, rather than along the line of the scratches. In other words, I was sweeping the cloth across the scratch. I’m thrilled with the results and I’ve decided to let the dog stay. (Yes. I’ve since put pads on the feet of the sofa.) ... show more
