Ordered 6 of these reels, as they are discontinuing them and i like them better than the newer model $170 reels. Two of the 6 drags did not work the first time out, but for $15 you can upgrade the drags. Never had issue with other 55l converters not working out of the box, but since i planned on upgrading drags anyways wasnt a big deal for me. These reels, with upgraded drags are cheaper and better then the new reels okuma is offering, i plan on ordering more before they are sold out for good. ... show more

I've used Penn 330 and 345GTs in the past and wanted reels the same size and features. To me this reel is built as well if not better than my previous Penns. Star drag has spring loaded detents for a solid feel when adjusting. Drag is smooth and easily meets rated specs. Reel crank knob and arm is beefed up and rugged. Gears are oversized as well and so far are holding up just fine. Spool and level guide is solid. The only knock I have is the spool lock lever is not metal and feels like it's light duty compared to the rest of the reel. ... show more

This is the size for 300 copper. I can back it with ~1000ft of 50lb braid and it’s pretty good - use a reel calculator spreadsheet. They’re around for free. This would be too big for 27 lead core or even 32 copper. Also there’s no line counter so no good for divers or downriggers.
