This is a great kit to have on hand. The kit came with a verity of different size eyelets - not only in eyelet diameter, but also in different rod blank shaft diameters. Some for super thin rods, and others for thicker rod blank shafts. This kit also come with glue, thread, and a weird, cheap, UV light that's basically useless. But you do not need the UV light anyway as the glue dries in its own. I liked this kit over others that utilize the hot glue stick to affix the tip. While this kit takes a little more time, the rod tip is much more secure than the hot glue method, and also reinforces the rod blank. People are often replacing the tip because they broke the rod at the tip. So naturally having some reinforcement to help mend splintered fiberglass or graphite is a good thing. The hot glue stick method will not address this, whereas this kit gives you the tools to help reinforce the break. Overall, this kit makes things easy for you to replace a broken rod tip.

I was a little shocked when I opened the package and found that the kit had opened in the shipping box; nothing was damaged or missing, and after a quick inspection I realized the manufacturer just needs to provide a box with a smidge more space inside to contain all the kit supplies. (I got it all to fit after my first repair without having to force anything in its place) No big deal though. You use the kit like you would a "standard" kit: heat the broken tip guide, and twist it off. The sand paper swatches included were of high quality and removed all the old tip glue in quick order. Test fit the right size guide (they have a wide range that should fit most standard freshwater, and even some larger saltwater rods) Heat the resin stick provided, get glue evenly around the tip, and fit the replacement tip while resin is hot. (or reheat it if not) Make sure it's lined up with the rest of the guides and wait for resin to cool until hard. (I shaved down some of the squished out resin that accumulated at the base of the tip guide with a new hobby knife & blade) The tied the provided wrapping twine on, wrapped it onto the rod and onto the base of the tip guide. I then set a timer on my phone for the recommended two minutes for UV cure time, (tip: tie a small hook on the end of the wrapping twine and take up most of the excess that isn't wrapped, then set the hook into the foam twine spool, this will help you keep tension for the next step) I then applied the UV cured resin, set a timer on my phone and provided UV curing light, hit star on the timer and spun the rod back and forth in an overlapping back and forth arc to allow the UV resin to spread evenly while curing. By the time the timer was up, the UV resin was rock hard. (a tiny bit of surface tack made me continue with the UV light and rotating the rod for an additional 20-30 seconds, but I believe that to be a matter of UV cured resins, not inferior UV resin, as it it was far from problematic and the tack dissipated after a short time. With the same hobby knife, I cut the twine from the cured wrapping and took a small hobby file to the tiny bump that was left due to the cutting of the tag end of the wrapping twine. And then I did the tug and twist test. I think I could've twisted the pole to the point of it breaking the new tip guide, the hold was that strong. I did not place the kit back in my work room; it went right into the tackle bag, because this kit could easily be used on a boat or sitting on a bank and could mean the difference between a miserable day of fishing, or a fantastic one. I will be ordering this product again... if somehow I end up breaking ten rod tip guides (which is not outside the realm of possibility with me, even though I've had a rod in my hand for over 37 years near constantly, lol)

Nice little repair kit, included everything needed other than a lighter and scissors. Just remember to snip the spout of the resin bottle. I forgot to do this. When I squeezed the bottle, the spout shot across the yard and exploded resin all over the bed of my truck.

My teenager was so excited to purchase his first rod and reel combo but accidentally shut the door on his rod breaking the tip. He was bummed out because the rod was not cheap and he did not want to spend money on another rod. I purchased this kit to repair the rod and save him from spending his money on a new one. The kit comes with a variety of tip sizes and clear instructions. I was able to select a good tip that matched the size of his rod and complete the repair in about 10 minutes. After curing, the tip works as good as new and my son has learned a valuable lesson. The kit has several more tips and materials that can be used for future repairs so this is a good value and I would recommend to any fisherman needing to repair a rod or to have on hand for future repairs.

Last year I had a rod tip eyelet replaced at a tackle shop. Pretty quickly it broke again rather than take it back. I just decided to buy this kit. I was surprised by how quick and easy it was to fix this rod. Also, I feel that the components were a better quality than what they used. Unlike some other kits and the tackle shop, this kit, let you wrap it with thread and then cover it with resin. I think this is gonna hold up very well. I read several reviews that state that they could not get the resin to dry with the UV light. My experience was that it hardened within a minute using the light up close. I was actually surprised how effective it was.

It came with everything and seems to work. Have to cut the tip off the resin glue. I thought originally it was dried out but it wasn't. I probably didn't put the thread on right and I'm not even sure the purpose of it since the tip is glued on great. And it doesn't seem like anybody knows what to do with the masking tape LOL. But the kit works great I've got the tip on my rod. The glue is still a little tacky after the UV light but directions say to leave it in the sun for 5 hours . Now I can go back out and have the bass ignore me like they usually do!
