  • Nice construction
Color: Blue
It does have a tendency to flip over if you are not in it. I cured that with a second set of safe tree straps. All in all, once you learn to set it up(practice twice before going out), very solid. Good zippers, but mine did come with a bonus hole in the bug netting, it's small and I'll just put duct tape on it ... show more

  • Best Sleeping Hammock - Well Built
Color: Blue
This is the best of the camping hammocks and I've tried a few. The rain fly is the best differentiating item. I've used others that have rain fly’s that you need to string between additional trees. Ughhh. This one works great and really keeps you dry; even in windy rainstorms. Also, the curved tent poles create a perfect enclosed anti-mosquito cocoon. I've used others that 'don't stay open' like this one does. On those, the top requires an additional bungie cord around the tree to stay up, but they don't give the perfect 'cocoon' shape as this one does. The other’s shortcoming is not just a beauty thing, this models cocoon shape keeps the mosquitos away from your body MUCH better. My first one lasted three years. I used it so much that I just left it up in the backyard. Unfortunately, I forgot about it over one winter and the spiders found a home. I don't like spiders! I threw it away instead of cleaning it. Everyone has some phobia! Anyways, this is my replacement. I've probably got 150 nights of sleeping in them. It has ample pockets, for storage, keeps me dry during heavy storms, keeps the mosquitos away and even as a side-sleeper, I sleep great in it. I use a tiny pillow. A big pillow doesn't work. Putting a heavy blanket down, then adding the 40-degree rated sleeping bag has allowed me great nights of sleeping in down to 26-degree weather. For size reference, I’m 6’2” tall and 210 pounds. It’s rated for 400 pounds. My wife has joined me in it bring the total to about 350 pounds. Comfortable for short durations, but not for overnight! It showed no sign of stress with the both of us in it. It lasted about three years and 125 overnights without showing any signs of tears, rips or undue stress. Obviously I kept all sharp objects away from it. Those dang spiders! ... show more

  • Felt like doing math :(
Color: Orange
Tested on a short day trip and it was not a fantastic fit for me. While I've definitely found comfort in a hammock before, I was not able to in this hammock tent. The 'boat' part is super deep but lacks tension, so I felt like I was adrift at sea, out of control of the hammock. I was not able to reach comfort in this hammock...not for a day trip and certainly not to sleep overnight. I moved it to the ground. Heck, I had a tarp with me and a serious desire to make this tent work for me, so I unclipped it from the trees and laid it out on some flat grassy area. This was a disaster. This product only comes with two stakes and for the life of me, I could not figure out a way to get this set up on the ground as shown in the images on this listing. Without additional stakes, the tent collapses and you're like a bug in a net. I was disappointed that this did not work out for ME, but that does not mean that another will find happiness in the product! The tent was SUPER light, so it was convenient to carry. The color was more yellow than expected, but not too bright. The bugs were not creeping into the tent whatsoever (it was just a short afternoon though). I wanted it to work out for me, but if you are someone who sleeps on their stomach or needs to lie flat, this will not be the tent for you. ... show more

  • Not worth it.
My friend and I were planning on going camping in a very rustic area and wanted to be off the ground so I looked into hammock tents and found a few... This one was on sale and a very reasonable price BUT it wasn't worth the money AT ALL. I decided to test it in my backyard before we left and first and most important, this thing sags SO much that you have to CLIMB the trees to get it high enough so that you're not on the ground. Worse, keeping it tight to the trees makes it incredibly uncomfortable to lay in. So that's strike one. During set up, I noticed there was no rope or other way to connect the rain fly up away and at an angle over the top of the hammock. I pulled out my own cord and proceeded to set it up anyway. I'm confident it's not set up the way it's supposed to be, but considering that very little of the actual hammock matches with the pictures in the set-up instructions, I'm not sure there's a way to set it up correctly. Regardless, leaving the ends of the fly to drain down into the hammock isn't going to work, so I rigged it differently. Strike two. Next, I left it out overnight to check for dew and moisture issues. The dew fell the next morning and the rain fly did not cover far enough out from the sides of the hammock to keep the dew out. Not even rain, just dew. The inside was damp the next morning. Strike three. I took the hammock down to pack it up and send it back- and what did I find? The flexing poles which are supposed to hold the hammock open have BENT. (see pics) I folded them back up and for the most part, the bend isn't horribly significant, but I'm not about to test this thing in the backwoods knowing that the poles are just a short accident away from giving out. I also noted that the ends of the poles - the points that are supposed to hold the poles in place within the grommets of the hammock - aren't actually affixed to the poles. This made disconnecting the poles even more difficult because the ends just disconnect from the poles when you try to pull the poles out of the grommets. TL;DR - you're getting even less than you're paying for. ... show more
