  • Works...but....
Pattern Name: Synthetic
Nice winch. Well built and easy to install. The wireless controller works much better than the other brand I am replacing. However...the winch randomly turns itself on an then off. Like a bump. Every 15 to 30 min it powers on for ½ a second. Trying to find a way to contact the seller is a frustration. The only option is to work thru Amazon support and the want to send me a new one. Why not have the seller get involved? Before you fully install this winch, wire it up, hook it to a battery, use the wireless controller a few times, and wait. If it doesn't start bumping on and off after an hour or so, you've got a good unit. I'm pretty sure the problem is the controller box. Not the winch head. But without a way of chatting with the seller, we'll never know. Update: solved the random pulsing by putting an Andersen connector in line. I unhook the power until needed. The remote has dismal range. Maybe 20'. When you get past that, it pulses on and off. So you can't control the winch from what ever you're pulling if you are more than 20' away. This is not insignificant. I use the winch to pull a 2000 lb Smart Car up ramps, into the bed of our semi truck. Does it with little strain. Still no word from the seller/dealer. Guess you are on your own after purchase. Don't know if the warranty means anything at this point. ... show more

  • Battey cables to short
Pattern Name: Synthetic
I installed the 4500lb winch on my 2022 Polaris mid-size Ranger. I did not use the mounting plate that came with the winch. It probably would have worked but I didn't like it. I bought the Kolpin mounting plate ($89) which made mounting much easier. Installation was not too difficult except that that the battery cables were only 4 feet long. I had to reverse the battery to make it fit and the cables barely made it to the post. The stock battery holder is not made to allow the battery to reverse very easily Would have preferred an extra foot longer cable. Be careful with the wire connectors. they are pretty flimsy. One of my connectors broke when putting on the protective covers over the connector, . Other than that the remote and the wired switch is woking ok. I guess I will find out how good it is after using it a few times. Update: Regarding the included battery cables: Just made and inexpensive replacement.. Bought a 12’ set of 8 ga jumper cables at Walmart for $15. Took the clamps off and put battery end terminals on it. For less than $20 total it took care of the short battery cable issue. Way less expensive than buying longer battery cables. Used the winch for the first time today and it worked great! Tested it out by Pulling the Polaris with me in onto the trailer. Then used it to secure the Polaris to the trailer and towed it to the camp. No problem. ... show more

  • Customer Service took care of my warranty issue!
Pattern Name: Synthetic
7/29/22: UPDATE to my previous review: VIVIAN in Customer Service stepped up to the plate and got me taken care of. Thank you for taking the time to remedy my warranty concerns. Installation is definitely a challenge as most would be. Bought in December of 2021 and finally took a trip where it may have been used. Before we even made it to our final destination, side by side was still on our trailer and I heard the winch clicking. Upon investigation I found the winch was spooling in and out randomly. I disconnected the battery to kill power to it. After a week of 4 wheeling, the winch was continuously spooling in and out. We were almost home and when I checked it, the winch had pulled itself in so tight it damaged my cable stop and started fraying the synthetic rope. I have contacted the seller, awaiting a reply. I will update my review. ... show more

  • Cool addition to my new 4Runner
Pattern Name: Synthetic
We just got a new 4Runner and I'm adding all kinds of toys to the interior and exterior. I wanted to have a winch as an option and even-though this one says it's for ATVs, I figured using snatch block with severely lesson the weight of my SUV and make this 4500 pound winch work well. Since installing it, I've tried it a few times and it's not bad. I was afraid it would be under powered, but it held its own. I also attached the winch to a quick release trailer receiver that bolts onto a cradle plate that Amazon sells. This way I didn't have to drill holes into my frame and through my bumper on my new 2020 4 Runner. I guess the one draw back is I can only use the winch from the rear, but it'll have to do for now. I found the install to be fairly easy, although I'm mechanically inclined and the directions were alright. I really like the wireless remote and is one of the main reasons I chose this model. Also, I bought the configuration that has the steel rope, not synthetic. I do believe that if the cable ever breaks it can be changed. All the bolts, electric connections, OEM mounting plate, and hook came in the very heavy package. I use a tow strap to increase the length of where I can pull from and as mentioned earlier the snatch block reduces my drag quite a bit. Don't buy this model if you need to pull very heavy vehicles, but a mid size SUV and smaller works great. I did try and pull my Chevy Tahoe and I could hear the strain. DO NOT FORGOT TO WEAR GLOVES AND PUT A TOWEL OR SOMETHING OVER THE CABLE WHEN PULLING. This is winch 101 safety my friends! ... show more
