  • Battey cables to short
Size Name: 4,500 lbs Color: Synthetic Rope
I installed the 4500lb winch on my 2022 Polaris mid-size Ranger. I did not use the mounting plate that came with the winch. It probably would have worked but I didn't like it. I bought the Kolpin mounting plate ($89) which made mounting much easier. Installation was not too difficult except that that the battery cables were only 4 feet long. I had to reverse the battery to make it fit and the cables barely made it to the post. The stock battery holder is not made to allow the battery to reverse very easily Would have preferred an extra foot longer cable. Be careful with the wire connectors. they are pretty flimsy. One of my connectors broke when putting on the protective covers over the connector, . Other than that the remote and the wired switch is woking ok. I guess I will find out how good it is after using it a few times. Update: Regarding the included battery cables: Just made and inexpensive replacement.. Bought a 12’ set of 8 ga jumper cables at Walmart for $15. Took the clamps off and put battery end terminals on it. For less than $20 total it took care of the short battery cable issue. Way less expensive than buying longer battery cables. Used the winch for the first time today and it worked great! Tested it out by Pulling the Polaris with me in onto the trailer. Then used it to secure the Polaris to the trailer and towed it to the camp. No problem. ... show more

  • Corrected what I consider to be a small design flaw.
Size Name: 13,000 lbs Color: Steel Cable
I have not used this winch yet (but it looks great!) and as you can see by the pictures I just finished mounting it on a winch cradle but I wanted to address a small and specific 'design flaw' regarding how the winch switch is supposed to mount onto the winch itself. Personally, I think whomever OK'd this design should be fired when it could have easily been resolved before any consumer had to deal with it. The switch is attached to the top of a mounting bracket with 4 screws. Then the mounting bracket itself is supposed to cradle around one of the aluminum bars while the rear of the mounting bracket simply sits down on top of another aluminum bar using 2 machined set screws that protrude out and 'under' the aluminum bar. The 2 machined set screw points in the bracket (Yellow arrows) do NOT screw into the bar, but instead sit "underneath" the bar after screwing them all the way down to act as the only mechanism to prevent likely movement of the switch. This is one of the poorest designs I have seen in a long time. In my opinion, this is very insecure when your bouncing around on certain terrains going through bushes/limbs/etc and can easily be knocked off by a branch or something of the like. For my own peace of mind, I could not let this go unaddressed so I drilled and tapped two new 1/4 holes in the mounting bracket (Blue Arrows) and all the way through the aluminum tube as well; inserted my own machine screws and now it is 100% more secure than it would have been b/c the screws now thread through the bracket and through the aluminum tube. I'm not saying it cannot still be knocked off but a whole lot less likely. ... show more

  • Customer Service took care of my warranty issue!
Size Name: 4,500 lbs Color: Synthetic Rope
7/29/22: UPDATE to my previous review: VIVIAN in Customer Service stepped up to the plate and got me taken care of. Thank you for taking the time to remedy my warranty concerns. Installation is definitely a challenge as most would be. Bought in December of 2021 and finally took a trip where it may have been used. Before we even made it to our final destination, side by side was still on our trailer and I heard the winch clicking. Upon investigation I found the winch was spooling in and out randomly. I disconnected the battery to kill power to it. After a week of 4 wheeling, the winch was continuously spooling in and out. We were almost home and when I checked it, the winch had pulled itself in so tight it damaged my cable stop and started fraying the synthetic rope. I have contacted the seller, awaiting a reply. I will update my review. ... show more

  • Good for the price
Size Name: 3,000 lbs Color: Synthetic Rope
Seems to be a good winch. The fair lead that comes with it isn’t the standard 4 7/8” that fits 99% of the brackets out there. It only fits the universal bracket that comes with the winch. I ordered an extra one now. So add another $20 to your purchase. The solenoid box that comes with it is huge and not economical for a 4 wheeler with limited room. Probably ok for a side by side. Seems ok for the money but a couple things I’d change is the fair lead and the solenoid box! ... show more

  • Good for the price
Size Name: 4,500 lbs Color: Steel Cable
Seems well made, and the remote is nice, although it jogs when you get a few feet away instead of steady pull with the remote for some reason. Don't think it really rates as a 4500 lb. winch. More like a 2500 lb. But it works for what I use it for.
