My old 70's sailboat had a rotten cockpit sole which required recoring. Access the bottom was difficult, so I did a top-down repair. The top skin with the molded-in anti-skid texture was in pretty poor condition to start with, too, so I just laid a new skin and used this EVA foam on top. After the paint on the new fiberglass had a week to cure fully, I cleaned it thoroughly with soap and water and a wipe of acetone, then carefully laid down the foam - you want to be accurate with this, the adhesive is very strong and you won't really have the chance to reposition. It's much more comfortable to stand on than the old anti-skid, and still provides good grip like you need on a boat. I'm more than satisfied with the functionality of this decking and plan to apply it on the rest of the cockpit next season. It's held up well through one season with no signs of wear or damage. Hoping to get several more years out of it.

This foam is great for boat floors. It looks terrific, is easy to install, dries quick and doesn't fade or stain easily. The adhesive provided is a 3M product and is strong yet forgiving as you apply the material meaning you can move it around before letting it cure and bond to the surface. I paid around $30 for a large piece that completely covered the floor of my 14' boat. I am very impressed and will buy more of this product if I have a suitable project.

Overall I like this foam flooring a lot, it is tough and has a very nice feel. I got this to add a nice wood strip styled floor to my Son's wagon. I wanted something very durable, weatherproof, comfortable to sit on, plus something that added a bit of style. This product so far definitely checks all of those boxes. I only had to ding it a star because it was a bit of a pain to work with. It came rolled up quite tightly and when unrolled the backing kept separating from the foam and causing the foam to pucker and wrinkle. It ended up taking me a few days to get it to lay out flat enough to actually work with. However, despite the difficulty with getting it to lay out I would definitely still get it again for any similar future projects. Overall it is a nice product.

UPDATE, SELLER CONTACTED ME AND OFFERED A COMPLETE REFUND, I DON'T THINK THIS ISSUE WARRANTS A COMPLETE REFUND, I USED A BRILLO PAD AND INDUSTRIAL DEGREASER AND RUST STAIN IS ALL BUT GONE, SHOWS WHERE BRILLO PAD ROUGHED IT UP A LITTLE, BUT STILL VERY HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME, DEFINITELY A GREAT MERCHANT, AND GOOD PRODUCT, WOULD NOT HESITATE TO PURCHASE FROM THEM AGAIN, (ORIGINAL REVIEW) has like a 1/2 inch WIDE stain along the center that won't come out, very light, barely visible look at it closely before you install it.

I'll leave my original review at the bottom. Here are my reasons for updating it and my conclusions. I contacted the Oceanbroad people and they were polite and understanding. They set up a ZOOM call to hear my opinions, and offered to replace the material. They genuinely want to take care of customers and launch a quality product. I give them points for that. I have a 30-foot sailboat that sits on a mooring in Miami where it gets full sun exposure. If you keep your boat in a garage or under a cover, or use this for interior floors, I imagine you'll get plenty of use from vinyl teak. And this will be the case for many boaters. The material is attractive, sticks well, and it's easy to work with. It's comfortable to walk on barefoot and makes excellent non-skid. If you have a cruising vessel exposed to full-time tropical sun, thermoplastic material will probably serve you better—or if you have the funds, real wood can last 50 years. • Vinyl is affordable and easy to work with for low-sun applications. In high sun, it shrinks and deteriorates. • Thermoplastic is slightly harder to work with and costs more but has a five-year guarantee. I haven't tried it to verify the results, and guarantees usually cover material costs only. Measuring and cutting panels and borders is time-consuming. You want to do the job once whether you hire someone to do it or DIY. • Wood is hardest to work with and costs the most, but any problems with it will almost certainly be the next owner's expense. In the long run, it's the best bargain despite the up-front costs. If you're considering vinyl decking, understand that it has its limitations. Vinyl that's UV-rated for 1000 hours will give you 125 eight-hour days of sun. If your boat is only exposed to sun when you use it, that can mean 125 days on the water—which is almost 3 years worth of Saturdays. But if your boat sits uncovered on a mooring, the material can shrink and deteriorate quickly. As long as you understand the pros and cons and choose the right material for your application, you'll be happy with Oceanbroad and their EVA foam boat flooring. Here's my original review. -------------------------- I used this EVA teak to create non-skid surfaces in my sailboat cockpit. I bought it because the 3M adhesive sounded like it would last—and so far, it has. But the vinyl has problems: 1. Whether this deteriorates because of UV exposure or on its own, it leaves orange "mud" everywhere. Sit on it with a wet swimsuit and you'll have an orange butt. A good scrub will temporarily help but then the problem returns. I can see the molded-in faux wood grain is wearing away. 2. After taking time and care to lay out borders and strips, I was disappointed to discover that many of my tight, invisible joints had opened up. If the material was worthwhile, I'd fill the voids with caulk—another project—but that would just make its inevitable removal more of a nightmare. How much re-painting will be needed when I redo this is yet to be seen. 3. The orange color is just a bit too bright to be natural (though I let that go at first thinking the material would work out). I did everything right and ended up with what will turn to to be an expensive time suck.

I bought this product based on prior reviews and 3M adhesive factor. I used rosin paper to make the templates which was great because it was sturdy and easy to work with. Ilas far as cutting the flooring, be sure to have multiple utility knives and lots and lots of blades. I have no idea how many I went through however it was a lot. You can tell real quick when your blade needs replaced because it starts to snag and becomes difficult to cut. When cutting I had layers of cardboard underneath it and used a metal “L” to run the blade along. When installing, I pulled part of the backing off and got into place little by little before removing more of the backing. I did purchase a small roller to help apply pressure when installing, I would definitely recommend the roller. The end result is great, there are some imperfections in the installation however that is on me not the product. Looking forward to boating season starting to get enjoy the flowing instead of scrubbing the fiberglass floor nonstop. We have a 23’ Monterey Explorer and was able to do the inside of the boat and the back platform off of three full size sheets.
