I absolutely Love my O’Neil shorts. I wish Hurley had come up with a 1.5mm instead just because I like the brand. I use mine around the 60deg water temp and above. Any lower and you will see me on my 3/2mm suit. Extremely comfortable. No bunching in the crotch area-AT ALL!! They have elastic waist and also a string to make them tight. I happen to pick my perfect size so I don’t really need to tighten the waist string. Having shorts is so convenient rather than suiting up on a full wetsuit. I have used them on middle of summer during a morning surfing session and although the water was cold I think close to 60 deg my bottom was not cold other than my top because I was using a quicksilver rash guard. I’m size 36 and medium size fit perfect for me. The shorts as all clothes do expands and wears over time. One thing I noticed is that the legs have stretched but the elastic around the leg portion hasn’t been compromised. I would definitely buy this again in the future except I wish other brands sold on Amazon. Like Hurley, I would definitely love to see quicksilver sell 1.5 mm shorts and perhaps some colors or patterns on them. ... show more

I'm 5'11, 190 lbs. I got Medium (29-30 waist). I have thinner legs and they hug well, so keep that in mind if you have thick thighs. Also, plenty room in the crotch area. I Use these for swimming/surfing in Hawaii. Great for when it's rainy and cold at the pool or dawn patrol at the beach. Water rarely gets below 70 in Hawaii, so these are really good for here or places with warm water. O'Neil is a great brand and they never disappoint. ... show more
