  • Excellent Sound And Performance
Style: 1100W 5-Channel
It's been a week since I installed the NVX VDA 11005, and I have found myself wanting to sneak away to my car for a listening session just to appreciate and absorb the improved sound fidelity over my previous amp. The NVX replaced a failing Pioneer 5 channel amp that had slowly been reduced to two channels over the past 5 years. It's the second popular name brand amp that has failed me in the last ten years, so I decided to try this amp and see what happens. I obviously cannot speak to longevity yet, but the improved sound quality...man...it's noticeable. Installation was a breeze as I already had everything in place. It has a slightly smaller footprint than the Pioneer which is nice. Wiring was straight forward and easy. The only catch is that the power and ground inputs have a little trouble accepting my 4 gauge wire which was a bit surprising. It's not as clean as I would like, and I'll probably revisit it soon. Tuning was surprisingly quick relative to my previous amps. I was able to get the sound right in the pocket without much fiddling with gain and filters. The subsonic filter may have something to do with the quality of sound. Neither of my previous amps had this feature and I suspect that my 12" subwoofer was having to work harder than it should have, trying to produce sound that it isn't capable of handling. The result is a cleaner, warmer, and thumpier base that is less directional and more consuming. It's less a shower and more a bath of sound now. I have 6.5" components up front, coax in the rear deck and of course the 12" sub in the trunk. There's plenty of power to each channel, and really, the stock satellite speaker wiring is probably limiting me at this point. The sub is a 4 ohm DVC wired in parallel to run at 2 ohm which the 5th channel gladly supports. The remote bass boost knob let's me push the sub as hard as I want to but I don't care to know the limit or come close to it. It's plenty of power for my liking. Btw, I would recommend using a capacitor to ease the power draw on your battery. Overall this is a fantastic amp for the money and is a huge win for NVX, which is a Sonic Electronics in house brand from what I understand. Nice. ... show more

  • Power house
Style: 1700W Monoblock
This thing cranks out the power I have it hooked up to a Skar evl at 1 ohm and it gives it all the power and it’s super small amazing product I should have got the bigger one but I had smaller subs at the time but it’s definitely 1700 watt rms hands down

Style: 1700W Monoblock
Full disclosure, I like NVX products. With that said, I've used a few of their subs and amps. My current setup is 2 NVX VCW 8's and I got this amp to replace the NVX NDA15001, which replaced a VAD10001. I like those other 2 amps as well, but I have limited places to mount an amp in my truck and both of those have gone into protection due to heat on occasion. This amp has a cooling fan which was a selling point for me. So far, at 1ohm, it has only gotten warm but it also was a huge improvement with the sound adding the extra watts. Can't beat the price for the performance, which is true for most of the NVX products I've tried. ... show more

  • Burned out in 1.5 years
Style: 500W Compact 4-Channel
7/5/2021 Update After 1.5 years, the amp not only failed on me, but also caused a scary, terrible electrical smell. In those 1.5 years, the amp was barely used because of the pandemic. I would say it ran maybe 4 hours, and that would be generous. The amp was installed inside the boat, and the boat itself was stored in my driveway with a cover. The manufacturer’s website had abundant strict language saying they basically wouldn’t do anything in my situation, which leads me to believe this probably happens a lot. Unfortunately, I bought 2 of these. I ended up replacing them both with 2 MTX MUDD100.4, which is basically the same output, and I only paid $225 for them, which is not much more than what the NVX goes for today. Back when I bought the NVX, they were only $150, which seemed to be a bargain. Now that they’re basically the same price as the MTX, you may as well get MTX’s solid reputation. From now on, I’m no longer getting off-brand stereo equipment. They just don’t last. To put it in perspective, I used to have a NON-marine grade JL Audio amp in that same location that lasted 10 years! And it still works except for 1 channel! And that was NON-marine grade! The supposed marine grade NVX lasted just a fraction of that time and completely burned out. Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra bucks today to save yourself from an eventual electrical fire and replacement a year later. —————————————————— Original Review I never heard of NVX before, so I did some research and found that they are a reputable company. YouTube dynos show that they exceed their rated specs, so I went forward and got one to power my Wetsounds REV8’s (bridged to 2 channels). This amp has a really small footprint, which makes mounting in limited spaces very easy. I was skeptical at first when running this at a very low volume and the amp getting really hot to the touch! I would run the speakers at a whisper and it would still be super hot! I did some more research and I saw that amps can run above 130 F and would be considered just fine, yet this temperature would be pretty much unbearable to touch. I also read that small amps will run very hot. Knowing this, I kept with it. Despite the heat this thing generates, I rated this 5 stars because it sounds absolutely spectacular. Previously I had a MBQuart amp powering these speakers, and they would always have a bit of static in the background. With the NVX, static was completely absent, and the REV8’s would sing very loud, but very clear with no distortion. I was so impressed with how they sound, I just ordered a second amp to power my in-boat speakers. I plan to run 2 pairs of speakers in parallel on 2 channels for a 2 ohm load, and another pair on the last 2 channels for a 4 ohm load. They are currently powered by a JL Audio 6 channel amp (one of channels went out), which has the same static that the MB Quart amp had. I’m hoping the NVX will finally rid this for me, and I’m also hoping they’ll make my speakers sound as clear as the REV8’s. Long term reliability is still in the air for me, so I’ll update if I run into any issues. So far though, NVX is now my “go to” amp, and I have owned JL Audio, Kenwood, MB Quart, Rockville, Planet Audio, Cadence, and Profile amps in the past. Their price is near rock bottom, sounds fantastic, has a tiny footprint, and everything I’ve read on them is positive. The big name companies should watch out.. ... show more
