Installed this weekend to replace the stock Jensen head unit on my 2020 Yamaha AR195. I took a chance on this unit since there was no real reviews. I needed a marine head unit that had a volume knob and had all the pre-outs for a 5 channel amplifier and on my wish list was something that I could add a transom remote at some point. I had a hard ceiling budget of $600 to make a decent stereo system and let me tell you, the NVX NMPS20 fit the bill perfectly. I wanted the color screen version at first, but when I saw that the LCD version had the 4 volt pre-outs I was convinced. Plus there was a $30 coupon, so all the better. Unboxing: When I got it, I was pleasantly surprised at the build quality. The heat sink, supplied wiring harness and RCA cables were all heavy duty and labeled well. On my bench after I dorked around with the wires a bit, it powered right up. The instructions were VERY sparse for the harness, but eventually I figured it out. So off to the boat to give it a try. Installation: Fit into the stock 3.5" hole just fine. I already had 4 Infinity Kappa 6.5 marine speakers installed on the factory wires, so I might as well give it a try before the amplifier came in. Bluetooth hooked up instantly. Spec sheet says Bluetooth 5.0, so that's definitely on point. The stock amplifier in the unit is rated a little lower than the Jensen, so I wasn't expecting to have my face ripped off, and my assumption was correct. But then again, I expected to add an amp. I did NOT dork around with any of the setting etc., so your mileage may vary. Adding the amplifier: Super easy with six rca cables and clearly identifiable blue remote wire on the harness. Added the 10" Infinity Kappa Sub and got to work with adjusting the gains. With everything set to zero gain it sounded great. Tweeked the gains just a little bit (that 4 volt input voltage maybe?) and it started cranking. From there I started messing with the balance and front to rear settings and it worked fine. The Sub control on the unit works very well if you want more thump. Kept all the Treble and Bass controls flat then jumped into the loudness and DSP settings. Loudness sounded a little forced, so I kept that off. The DSP settings were way better than I thought they would be. Rock/Pop/Classic/Off all pretty much did what I expected. Pleasantly surprised how good this unit sounds. Transom Remote: So I tried to contact Customer Service a couple of times via Email, they couldn't answer it electronically, so they asked me to call, and that was absolutely a fail. Got disconnected about a dozen times and I gave up. The question is that they have a 1/8th inch dongle for a wired remote, but no wired remote on their site. They have a Bluetooth one that includes a Bluetooth receiver (which I definitely don't need) for $70. So I asked if a wired remote was available or if the chipset was compatible with any other wired remotes? No answer... Kinda sad... So I ordered a Kicker wired remote to see if it may work. It's supposed to be delivered today. Will update if it works. Conclusion? Stay tuned. So far I give the performance with an amplifier 5 stars. 4 without. Just isn't a powerhouse, even with the most sensitive marine speakers I could find. 2 stars for customer service, because someone did reply via email, and I gave up on telephone support (but then again, I had a crazy question) All in all, 4 stars is pretty stellar for a head unit that I got for $70... Would recommend Remote Update: The Kicker transom remote did not work. Seems like the remote dongle is mislabeled. It is just a 1/8th audio in. The NVX remote is just another Bluetooth receiver and it would be a pain in the butt to link to two different just to have volume control... Worth a shot ... show more

I have it connected to a 4 channel amp on the bridge area of my boat, using 2 of the zone pairs for front and rear, and I’m sending the zone 3 preamp output down to the cabin system aux input. There is also a sub output if desired. The Bluetooth 5.1 input has great range and connects easily. I haven’t used the powered output, but they are there for a small system if needed. Put it in a few weeks ago and had no complaints. However it’s already broken, the volume knob does not work at all. While it still works it is very inconvenient would recommend spending the money for a better unit.

I have this stereo in my pontoon boat and connected to a 5 channel amplifier, everything on stereo works as it should and has everything as listed. Bluetooth volume is not as loud as the radio. Also this item mounts with screws from the front, would like a rear bracket mount so no holes are drilled into console. In my application Im using this in a pontoon so if using in a atv the drilling of holes might not be an issue. Over all it’s a good product for the price. ... show more

Great unit, powerful and decent sound, I used an amp and the pre-outs. Bluetooth range is awesome. USB dongle does not recognize my USB thumb drive, have not tried a different brand yet, it was format a default for 8gb and doesn't work with this radio.

Shorted out jumps between inputs on its own after only a few rides. Amazon says return window closed going in the trash. Probably the last nvx product I will ever buy.
