Edit: This worked way better than expected until it didn’t. Shortly after the return window closed it just stopped working. Since it I couldn’t return, I took it apart. It “fixed itself”, during the difficulty process (they glue it together). This implies a poor solder joint. I put it back together and enjoyed good performance until today. It died again and I can’t revive it. Given its price and that I’ve had to tear it apart because of the glue I’m calling it and finding another brand. It was so good… when it worked. Old review: The clip on this is too narrow for the stock Q3 arms and would interfere with the USB port if you have an external battery. However if you get creative, you can probably make this work with many different straps. It doesn’t use power from the Quest, it has its own built in battery (charged by USB-C) so as long as you can figure out a way to point the LED toward the front of the headset it will work. The photo shows how I found a spot on my BoboVR headset that allowed me to clip it in place. I was afraid that spot would be too far back causing a big shadow from my head but that hasn’t been a problem. Once mounted it works beautifully. I turned off all the lights in my living room and instantly lost tracking. I turned on this IR source and instantly regained tracking, even hand tracking on the opposite side of the headset (where it might be in shadow) worked immediately. The passthrough doesn’t show the room lit up with IR so don’t expect to see it there. The only thing you will see is tracking start working. The only slight negative is that the “gears” (Chinese for power levels) of a different brightness settings don’t seem to make any difference at all. Everything works in the low “gear” but you still have to click through the higher power setting every time you turn it off. It’s also not clear which power you are in, high or low, and since high is a waste of battery, I wish I could know which power I was on. Other than that small gripe, I’m very happy. For the money, including a rechargeable (but non replaceable) battery and the IR LED it’s a good value. ... show more

The only negative to it is the clip...rigid plastic, is not large enough to fit my headstrap. That is no fault of the designer, but it would have been better if it had some kind of variable size fastener to attach it, even a velcro strap would do the job

This one will not stay on the headset. When i tried to use it, everytime I adjust my headset, it got knocked off. No clue how or if it works because it wouldn't stay on.

The media could not be loaded. I use a Oculus Rift VR headset, which had just onboard camera system, without using any other room sensors. Advantage with this headset is that everything is built in the unit, without the need of installing all kind of extra sensor in the room. I got this for the quest 3, it works despite the RGB camera not supporting IR. The tracking cameras on it do however. It wasn’t designed for the quest 3 so it sits loosely. Also you can use it for night vision on the quest 2.
