Okay, so I waited a couple months after purchasing to review this couch. Glad I did though! First things first. I put this couch together myself and it has been my most proud piece of furniture installation I’ve ever done! It was not complex at all, the only problem is, it’s freaking heavy!! Not too heavy but a bit too much for me to do alone, although I got it done in a span of 3 hours with breaks. I’ve have nothing but compliments on the color and style of this couch! Everyone loves it, including myself. I think it definitely fits the aesthetic I was going for. As for comfortability, guests have spent the night and have only had one issue. If there are 2 people sleeping on this couch, have the lighter guest sleep on the side that is the backrest. I have had a guest fall back towards the wall from doing the opposite! It was funny but could definitely cause some complaints. In addition to that, this is not my favorite couch to snuggle up in as I am tall and the depth of the seat is not too big. But it serves its purpose for the price and overall appearance of it! I would recommend this as a starter futon or a non-frequently used piece of furniture. For me it is providing the necessity that I need it for as it is my first living room piece! I still recommend this as going day to day I can enjoy using the futon. ... show more

Directions were really easy and it went together quicker than I thought. The only irritating thing was having to tighten nuts and only being able to turn 1/8 of the way when they were in a corner and there was no space to move. It is hard. Like, I’m going to buy a foam pad and make cushions type hard. I’m sure it would be easier to sleep on than sit, but I have padding on my butt and it’s still way too hard. Skinny people with no behind would probably want to avoid sitting for any length of time at all. I got the orange and I really like the color - it’s that deep autumn orange, nothing bright. It also looks nice. You’ll definitely want pillows to put beside the arms - they’re narrow and rock hard. You can’t sit anything on them either. Overall it’s okay for my needs - I needed an absolute rock bottom price couch as my daughter’s dog literally started eating my couch cushions on my last couch and my two dogs joined in the fun. I have noticed there’s no difference in quality between $300 couches and $900 couches, and unless you’re getting a really nice one that costs thousands you may as well go cheap and replace often. I paid $153 for it and that’s about what it’s worth. The wood frame seems to be soft pine that I would be hesitant to use for anything other than a picture frame. I’ll update in time regarding wear and tear. It works be nice in a home office or spare room for sure, but it’s not really a main couch type. ... show more

For such a cheap price I wasn't expecting a lot, but I'm impressed. It arrived with all required hardware nicely packaged and easy to find, and I like how some pieces are stored within the futon. This will make it easy to disassemble and move when needed. I put it together in about 40 minutes. I agree with other reviewers that having a ratchet to tighten hardware makes it much easier than with the provided little wrench. This sits in my home office and is just comfortable enough to use for seating there; not too plush, but not like a rock, either. I'll plan on adding a foam mattress pad when guests use it. Pulled out, I think it's a little wider than a twin size bed. The fabric is linen-like, but smoother and shinier. So far, dog fur brushes off of it easily. Very happy! ... show more

I recently purchased two of these futons. I read a lot of the reviews before buying. I was certainly hesitant to buy after reading how these were uncomfortable and too firm etc. Everything about the futon is well thought out. They supply the exact amount of washers, nuts and bolts as well as a blister pack of back ups, which I never had to use. All of the components are well labeled and included an easy to read instruction booklet. The tools, legs and hardware were boxed and tucked neatly amongst the folded futon. The futon arms were in the two zippered compartments beneath the seats. The folded futon and arms were encased in a thin black fabric to protect it. You receive the tools to put it together, though the flat wrench is exhausting to use. Some reviews mention that their futon arms were wobbly or seemed like they would break under pressure. The arms shouldn’t be wobbly if you hand tightened them properly. You have to work your way back and forth tightening the nuts. The first nuts become loose after you tighten the latter. I am leaning my back on the arm of the futon as I write this, I have no fear that it will break! There are four bolts, nuts, washers and lock washers on each arm; it’s not going anywhere. I assembled both futons myself but I would recommend getting an assistant when flipping them right side up, as you don’t want to damage the legs and because the couch wants to fold in half at the hinge when you move it. There are four nice wood legs, the two center legs/supports are a sturdy plastic. The center legs have a horizontal flange with screw holes. The center legs and flange are all one piece of plastic. These legs affix directly over the large hinges between the two bottom cushion sections. This aspect of the design is my least favorite. I don’t care for the center hinge of the futon and how the plastic legs affix to that. Of course the couch wanted to fold along the hinge after the legs were affixed, I worried that the plastic legs would snap but they didn’t. It serves its purpose for having a compact, easy to ship futon though. The fabric is nice and the green seems to have brown under-tones. I believe the fabric is linen-look rather than actual linen. The green is gorgeous. As far as the comfort: there is ample padding on the futon back. The seat has springs and padding. I find the futon comfortable and not overly firm. I have had no trouble sleeping on it at all. The seat height is perfect for me (5’5”), I don’t feel like it’s too low. The seat depth is perfect for me as well. There is no movement nor creaking whatsoever when I jiggle the futon, the futon is solidly built. Overall I feel like I made a good purchase on this retro design (under $300 with tax) and I’m glad I took the chance on it. It doesn’t look nor feel cheap. I think it is a fair price for what you get. Both futons were free from rips, breaks and stains or funny odors. One futon shipping box was a bit crushed on both ends, like it had been dropped, I didn’t see any visible damage when I opened it though. There is no packing material so any impact from dropping it goes straight to the futon. ... show more
