I have a PSI Barracuda 3500se. Which works great. Read about chucks that have dovetails. I purchased this Nova chuck bundle. It’s a game changer compared to the Barracuda chuck! The only problem I had was that this doesn’t come with a three inch jaw. So, I ordered the 3 inch jaws JS70N. The 3 inch jaws closed the gap I was having between the two and four inch jaws. Now this chuck is great!! Also, the tolerance in the Nova chuck and jaws is way better, better quality and dove tail which helps hold my pieces with no wobble! ... show more

    • Expensive but it does what it's supposed to do!
Well packed in its case for shipping and storage. Very precise and reliable. The jaws are locked in place and stable. I tried to go cheap and it didn't work. Now I'm so happy that I spent a little extra on this set.

    • Size limitation to make note of.
Let me start by saying I'm a novice. Took a class on Woodturning and came home with a bowl made of spalted maple. Upgraded my lathe at home with this chuck. I have no reason to believe that I will not find it to be a good investment and useful in the future. Looking forward to using it soon. But in the meantime.... I had hoped to continue working on the bowl I made at the class, but it won't fit. It so happens that the tenon on the bottom of the bowl is 2 5/8", right in the middle of the range of the jaws on this chuck. The small jaws won't spread far enough and the large jaws will not go down that far. Unless I am missing something, there is a gap between the limitations of these jaws and my project remains unfinished. So beware of this detail. If anyone has a work around for this problem I would appreciate hearing from you. ... show more

Little bit more expensive than the off brands but if your jumping into bowl turning and your looking for a chuck definitely get this one. It comes in a nice hard plastic case and everything is packaged nicely and fits together and this chucks gears operate smoothly and don't come loose on you, so you know your bowl project is safe. ... show more
