I bought it based on reviews and the cheapness of it ($20). It actually makes a very decent classic frank. It's easy to clean by simply wiping off of the collecting tray. Although you can't see the traditional browning on the bun as with traditional toasted bread, the buns come out toasty and tasty. It's an input vs. output game with this thing. It requires almost no input, i.e. cooking/work/skill/cleanup, and produces a good output product. Better than boiled or microwaved franks, not quite as good as grilled franks. I bought this for my kids... they absolutely love it... but the only complaint my kids have is when they toasted everything together the hot dogs were still a lil cold (so they had to put them down a second time) and the buns burnt.. it was easier if they did the hot dogs first then put the buns in and did them together a second time... ... show more

WOW! If you want the perfect hotdog, look no further. My granddaughter is a “red hotdog” aficionado! No joke! This little toaster makes the perfect hotdog. The outside is crisp but not burned and the inside is hot and juicy. She loves natural casing hotdogs and this toasts them to perfection. Had this for a couple months now and love it! It's quick and easy. I cook the dogs twice, flipping them over the second run, and it cooks them just right. Had problems with the buns sticking to the heating plate and haven't figured out how to clean the burnt debris off. But I just place the buns on top of my bread toaster and that works very quickly.
