I'm a mail carrier and I walk on everything from concrete, grass, rough tree roots, going from elevated driveways, curbs, anyway this has definitely passed. I have purchased hiking boots way more expensive and after 18 days I feel water enter the boots costing $100+ . I had these for 2 months and walking in rain and snow and my feet are still dry.

BACKGROUND: I have somewhat wide feet. My shoe size varies depending upon the manufacturer. It can be a 9 extra wide, a 10 regular, or various combinations of length and width in between. Anything longer than a 10 though and I feel like I have clown shoes on. INITIAL OBSERVATIONS: Very smooth surface with no texture, made me doubt that it was actual real leather and I thought it might be some of the "faux" (fake) "leather" that is really just plastic. But I put the shoes on and wore them around the house for the day to break them in. COMPLAINTS / ISSUES: It has the "quick lace" type "eyelets" on the upper part of the shoe, but the metal is a bit thin and I suspect that it will cut into the laces at some point. The other "eyelets" are small riveted D-rings. The ad claims that the sole material is rubber. It looked more like a plastic, but when I rubbed it with my finger, it smelt like rubber instead of plastic, so I guess it really is some sort of vulcanized rubber. IMPRESSIONS: As with all shoes, they are a bit stiff initially, but eventually get a bit more comfortable. The ad claims a "foam insole", but if one is there, I did not feel it. The insole feels quite firm to me. If a cushioning insole is important to you, you might want to order a half size larger and buy an aftermarket foam sole. CONCLUSION: So far, I consider it of average quality (i.e. 3.0-stars). There's nothing that really sets it apart from other similarly styled shoes / boots. In fact, I had a pair of Bass brand hiking boots that look very similar to these, but were of noticeable better quality. Eventually, their sole came unglued and were not worth repairing. I'll be wearing these a lot to break them in and I'll revisit this review with updates in the future.
