  • One of the better portable ice makers
I found this unit to be one of the better portable ice makers. It has a larger capacity and holes a gallon of water. The ice is also a bit harder than some of the other icemakers out there. If you use purified drinking water the ice will come out fairly clear. I would gladly give it five stars if not for the manual which I only get one star. It's poorly translated Chinese to English. But if you read the manual and play with the buttons for a while you'll get to understand it. Trying to get the water bottle on top with a gallon for the water is not easy and you're going to get water all over the place. We just started pouring water in two the top and putting the bottle back on or closing off the top. Most of the instructions are about safety and plugging the unit into a properly wired three prong grounded outlet. I use the GFI instead. The units a little noisy on the first couple of loads, but after that the noise does reduce. I The ice maker is worth the price, but I would get the extended warranty. The time required to make a load of ice is affected by the ambient temperature of the room. ... show more

  • Great alternative to bagged ice
The ice maker in our kitchen refrigerator is very slow to make ice, and there is never enough to get through the day with our family. We used to buy 5-lb bags of ice with our groceries, but it really gets expensive when you have to buy 2-3 bags a week. We were constantly running out to the store for ice, especially with warmer summer weather. We bought this in July 2021, and it has really made a difference for us. It takes about an hour to get a full bucket of ice cubes, which we then pour into the always-empty ice maker bucket in the refrigerator. Two full buckets = 5 lb. bag of ice and uses up a full gallon of water, so then the machine is empty and not full of stagnant water . We use the filtered water from the refrigerator, so the ice always tastes good. If we run the machine to get a single full bucket each morning, we usually have enough to get through the day. If not, it's just 10-15 minutes for the first ice drop. We unplug it and give it a deep clean every other month -- not too much to do for a constant and convenient supply of good, clean ice. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Broke after 3 uses but working again after surgery…
I bought this about a year ago and set it up for some ice on a camping trip. We used it for about 6 hrs. Worked great and made ice. Brought it home and used it agin about 3 months later for a party it worked and made ice. It’s was always stored in the original box and stored inside our home. Tried to use it again this past week and it will not make ice. The water doest flow. I realize it’s a year old and out of warranty but cmon… 2 uses and it’s broke on the 3rd use??? Ugh… Edit. Ok after 6 hrs of messing with it, I took it apart found nothing wrong put it all back together again and now it’s working. No idea what was wrong but it is working again. ... show more

  • Ice bin is too small.
The ice maker is easy enough to use the only issue I have with it it the bin that holds the ice isn't very big. If you are trying to make a bunch of ice you have to empty it out quite often.

  • Great ice maker.
Easy operation, makes great ice fast. Only wish the holding basket were bigger. You must kind of babysit it during operation to keep emptying the basket. However makes the stated amount of ice per day. Added water bottle is a must. Great product.

  • working great so far
We have had this running for a week now and it is definitely doing what it is supposed to do. I would suggest waiting 24 hours before plugging it in rather than the 1 hour mentioned in the manual. I would buy another if needed and we have recommended to friends. I think after a week of running non-stop, it should go for quite a while now. It also arrived when they said which surprised me a bit. overall we are very happy with it. definitely turning out large quantities of good usable ice. ... show more

  • Does not keep it cold
The fact that it does not keep the ice cold after it is made so you have to keep emptying the ice tray or it will turn into water and then you have to drain it.

  • If machines had a death rattle, this would be a perpetual death groan
It worked sooo well for a long time… but then it started making louder and louder noise that, when it starts, uninitiated guests are started and ask what the noise is (and if they should evacuate). It’s so loud you can hear it almost anywhere in the house with doors closed. If you want an ice machine, save for something nicer. ... show more
