- NORSE STYLING - This 5-foot Viking broad axe draws inspiration from the Langeid axe found in southern Norway and dated to the early 11th century. This style axe is also sometimes referred to as a Dane axe or Danish axe. We've taken a bit of creative license and added Elder Futhark engravings along the curve of each side of the carbon steel blade.
- STOUT SHAFT - The 5' axe handle is made from one piece of quality aged teakwood, one of the most hard and durable timbers available. The handle end is covered by a pure copper sheet and secured with copper rivets.
- RUNIC ENGRAVINGS This axe features unique Elder Futhark rune engravings on both sides of the blade. While runes dont translate directly to English, the inscription can be interpreted as Victory Hall, to Honor and To Battle, to Glorya powerful invocation of strength, victory, and the warrior spirit.
- LEATHER SHEATH - Premium brown leather sheath included with each purchase. Safely store and transport your long axe without fear of damaging the blade or an unsuspecting passerby!

I bought this to be part of a cosplay as Ragnar Lothbrok from Vikings. I have no plans to cut wood or throw it. It is definitely well-made and has that authentic, rustic look that you would expect from a Viking-style weapon. This thing is not a toy. I sliced an entire sheet of paper in half by gently running the blade across. Don’t break it by chopping wood or throwing it—this is designed for killing (though I hope no one uses it for that reason). But it is exactly what I was looking for! However, it is not like the product’s photos. It’s darker, and the runes are right next to each other. But it honestly did not take away from my expectations at all. I love this axe. Key points: Don’t try to chop wood or throw it at anything, sharp as a razor, different color, slightly different positioning of runes, yet beautiful. Money well spent for Norse fanatics and/or collectors.

I didn’t like the chip in the edge, ridiculous they would send it like that! I reground the terrible bevel and got it sharp now. Put a patina on the steel, used tung oil on the bone dry leather. Head is secure and it’s a nice display piece now. Same period axe (9th century Norse Viking pattern) as the one Floki carried and used in the series Vikings. Very nice accurate rendition, but needs a few this and that’s to make it just right.

Or something like that... Got this for a friend who is a Viking and in need of a quality axe. So now he is out there, off his meds, with a beautiful 24" axe. Good luck America. Oh yeah, the axe is amazing. Odin smiled when my friend took possession of this quality piece. It's a heavy sucker. 2+ pounds. The leather wrap is very nice, as are the carved runes. The blade is phenomenal. Though my friend has but one eye, he sees the world clearly. Wait..maybe he IS Odin? Oh crap..never thought of that!

Fantastic recreation. It's the real deal. Will give you Viking warrior arms if you haul it around and put it to use daily. Still waiting for an opportunity to test its prowess in battle - and figure how to best display on a wall for immediate use (ICOE). Not the sort of thing to hide under ones pillow at night. Better as a 'next to the bed' stand-by unit (if you're not showcasing it). Sturdy, heavy, made to last - and sharp. I wonder how Vikings would respond to the warning about not using it for chopping wood though - would they stop short of hitting a shield? Even if this thing were dull bladed it is an equivalent to a 4# sledgehammer in weight, so use for re-enactment (or in real-time threat situations) is going to give an opponent reason to turn tail.

Wow, this axe is fantastic, especially for the price and detail that came with it to start. Has a great weight to it, great axe head and really appreciate the blade cover with belt loop. Only complaint is that I wish the blade cover's strap that holds the cover to the blade had a second strap to help keep the cover from sliding around. It can occasionally uncover a little bit of the blade if it is swinging on your belt, but isn't too big of a worry enough to want to knock my rating down.
