  • Smallest Treadripper Air Cooler
So this is the smallest Threadripper air cooler out there at 125mm in height and really it is meant for server racks or SFF builds that just don't have the height clearance. If your case has substantially clearance I would recommend skipping the U9 and U12 all together and just go with the U14 TR version since all of these coolers are so closely priced together but the U14 is the only chip that offers very good cooling with real overclocking potential. With this said the U9 TR4 is rated at 180W TDP, so yes it can handle a 1920X-2920X to a 1950X-2950X but not the WX series chips. The cooler is beautifully packaged and comes with all sorts of cables, a long screw driver, and thermal paste. The 92mm fans aren't as quiet as I thought they would be at full load but still aren't obnoxious. Mounting was super easy but it should be noted that this cooler does require low profile RAM or the fans interfere with the RAM. You can slide up fans up the heat sink but I am not sure how that effects cooling. I have the NH U9 TR4 in a mATX Sliger Cerberus 18.5L case with 6 case fans. The two most important case fans for my build are the top mounted 120 slim exhaust fan and the most important one is the side bracket mounted fan that intakes air and it sits right above the cooler barley not touching it. The side bracket fan lowered Idle temps from 39C to 34C and allowed me to run my previous Ryzen Master settings that I had with an Asetek 240mm AIO. When stress tested with CPUZ I am getting 67.75C which just barley is under the 68C throttling limit. Overall this is the only TR4 air cooler that fits into my case and by no means is it a bad one, but it does takes a bunch of fans to keep it properly cooled ... show more

  • Success! 2950x cooling solution!
I made the mistake of buying the lian li dynamic 011 without considering a cooling solution for my threadripper 2950x thinking my wraith ripper cooler would fit. Boy I was wrong with it frustratingly being a mere 5mm too tall. Looking online for cooling solution wanting a cpu cooler tower opposed to AIO I skipped over this cooler thinking it won't be enough to keep the 16 core beast cool enough. I was desperate and almost resorted to buying the only AIO cooler for trx4 in the market for $200 when my desperation brought me back to this little noctua cpu tower cooler. I decided to give it a shoot and was astonished. This little cooler kept my cpu a cool mid 30 - 40 degrees Celsius. Stress testing my 2950x for about 5 minutes (didn't have the patience for a longer run, running fans at full speed) keep her about in the 60 degree Celsius range consistently. No need to think just buy. She isn't half bad looking as well ;) ... show more

  • Product sucked, but AAA customer support.
Literally first time off setting the heatsink, I had a screw break in the heatsink. That when I notice the other 2 screw's thread is crap. Emailed them, they responded quickly, they asked for invoice and a picture of the heatsink, I showed........4 days so far with no response after that. That's not even taking in the fact that the whole process is literally stupid to do the off setting to begin with. Then there is the ram issues you gonna have with this heatsink. The ram slots closest to the socket will be blocked. Crap support for a overprice, crap heatsink. First and last time I buy from this company. Update: They sent me a new one after contacting them. Literally a week before warranty becomes expired; they honored it. ... show more

  • If you are space limited this is the one
High quality unit. This cooler fits where its larger siblings won’t, though it’s still not small by any means. The tradeoff is it won’t run as cool as the bigger models. You want small(er) and quiet that’s the compromise that has to be made. Comes with everything you need. Thermal paste, fan headers, etc. If you have all kinds of space go with the 140mm option (measure first) because it’s not much more expensive and will give you more thermal headroom. ... show more

  • Amazing little cooler.
Use this in a 4U server. The cooler is mounted on a 1920X (12c/24t). Tested with prime95 @ 100% load never tipped over 65c. Really impressed with the performance and how quiet the fans operate even under full power. Obviously your mileage will very depending on your cases airflow. The craftsmanship of these coolers is second to none and the mounting brackets are the easiest I’ve used by far. Only thing I’d like to add is that seeing these brown fans is like an insurance policy that your not going to have any troubles for a very long time. So don’t be thrown by the color, it’s a brown beacon of light in a ocean of terrible black/RGB fans. ... show more

  • Perfect for home server use for my 3960x
Perfect cooler for my application. I have a 3960x that I run as a home 4u server via UNRAID. Ive dedicated 12 cores to a gaming VM, 4 cores to my wifes work station (she almost exclusively just does email and docs with light video/multimedia use) and the rest to run dockers and PLEX. Even under max loads while gaming, video streaming temps stay in the 50s. Very quiet. Perhaps not suitable for 24 core 100% load OC but again works perfect for me. ... show more

  • Exactly what you expect from Noctua
I need this to move my server into a 4U case from open air test bench. I used it for my EPYC 7401P and it kept the temperature under 60C when ambient temperature is reaching 35C. The fan was not fully spinning nor noisy either. Pretty happy with the result. It's definitely not as powerful as U14S, but at this size, it's pretty good. ... show more

  • Good Cooler. Doesn't Fit my 3U Case.
Bought the cooler because Noctua lists it as a 3U cooler. Regrettably it is 8mm too tall for a Supermicro SC836 case. Total bummer. Works great but not for this case.
