I usually don’t write reviews but for me this was a Japanese model 3DS that has been modified to be used within the US. For those who don’t know the Nintendo 3DS in Japan is called the LL (Large Large) and not XL (Extra Large in the US). Japanese 3DS LL are region locked to only play Japanese versions of games. In this case this one was modded to allow it to play using US versions, tricking the system to think it was in a US region. This was not mentioned in the description or at all in the buying process. There’s no SD card (you’ll have to buy one and format it), terrible 3rd party charger (that doesn’t fit fully into the 3DS), modding software installed in the system, and crashes at random times while using. This caused me to do some research to find out the issues this device had for me. Hopefully this is just a one time problem for me and not anyone else. This system itself in is good condition but had a ton of internal issues because it wasn’t an XL. Good luck and be cautious with this one. ... show more

    • A very serious packaging!
To my big surprise, the console product come in three layers or packaging. After opening the cardbox box there are another two layers of bubble wraps before a plastic envelope that wrap the actual console. So in a sense you get the bubble wraps as a fidget toy for free somehow! (Jokes) Now the console itself is nothing more than a typical old gen 3DS. It is mimimally beat up. There are some small amout of scratches on the top and bottom of the console, and the matte surface is pretty much gone due to previous use. Other than that, the color and function are as advertised without any issue. Although some minor flaws, overall it functions as promised and it is within my expectation. And for 300 or so of price range I am pretty much satisfied amd cannot ask for more. ... show more

    • battery issues annoyyinggg but its ok
It has some battery issues. battery life is 2 hrs max and it will suddenly die with only like 10 sec warning of the red blinking light. also when you plug it in- it will show the orange light to say its charging but once you close the 3ds the orange light disappears..? weird. it still shows it as charging in the ds but the orange light doesnt turn on. It came very clean and has screen protectors and nice stylus. screen can be finicky with responsiveness like if i try to draw in my game notes it will be a dotted line and when i try to drag my food to my tomodachi life characters it drops it. annoying. not really worth it just buy it new guys. not awful enough to return -- may try to replace battery myself i dunno ... show more

    • Don't expect it to be good quality
The best thing i can say about my product is that it works ok. With that though the sd card flap is broken, the hinge is loose, i took off the back plate to check the battery and the was some residue under it, the 3d is broken for some reason, and the top screen is janked up. They should not be able to list this as excellent quality when its not even good quality ... show more

its the LL, the Japanese version.. overall good product. mine came pre-installed with Luma3ds, a software to unlock the region. not sure if thats the same for everyone.

    • Beautiful product, looks brand new
I was hesitant on purchasing this product at first, given I could receive a 3ds that is faulty or pretty scuffed up, but I was pleasantly wrong. I purchased my refurbished 3ds xl 2012 from Cavegamers and it came really quickly, I even had a question that they kindly awnsered in one day, (asking if this 3ds was a united States console, it is btw). The 3ds I received could've easily passed as brand new, the condition of the product was just amazing. The only like was a tiny hairline crack on the base that I couldn't see without a flashlight on it. The screen was perfect, no scratches or anything, absolutely satisfied with my purchase. I will note there is no sd card with it but I didn't mind given I was going to replace it with a bigger gb anyways, they did include a charger. I highly recommend this seller for refurbished goods. ... show more

    • Bottom screen broke
I purchased this 3DS XL and when I got it, it looked to be in perfect condition and seemed pristine. After a few months pieces of the back started to fall apart and then just a couple of months ago the bottom screen shattered and completely stopped working with touch screen. Nothing happened to it that should’ve caused this to happen. I’ve been making do hoping that I could just fix it, but I don’t want to completely brick it in the process.
