This is the tool you need in your kitchen! It's a delight to use!!
Color: Midnight Blue
If I could give six stars I would! This little workhorse is exceptional. I wanted a machine that could slice and shred but was not interested in a mandolin-type. Well, I found the right kitchen tool. The PREPi is easy to use, much safer than a mandolin. It slices so quickly. It's small enough for any kitchen, yet powerful enough for pretty much any task. Using the PREPi, I made a huge pot of mushroom cream soup, slicing the mushrooms in nanoseconds, chopping onions in even less time; from fridge to soup was less than 30 minutes using this delightful tool. Normally, it would have taken me at least that long to thinly slice the mushrooms and chop up the onions! Seriously, consider adding this Ninja PREPi to your kitchen tools. You will not regret it! ... show more

Great Food Prep Performance, but Storage Could Be Better
Color: Midnight Blue
The Ninja PREPi is another amazing Ninja product that makes food prep a breeze! This system is incredibly convenient because you can prep, serve, and store everything in the same bowl. It cuts down on the time I spend making weeknight dinners and prepping lunches for the workweek, giving me more time to spend with my family. I ordered the Midnight Blue and Mango color combination, which features a blue body with yellow accents. The system is lightweight and durable, and assembly is easy with clear, straightforward instructions. However, while the overall design is compact, the storage situation is less convenient. The bowls don't nest inside each other, and the blades cannot be stacked, so they need to be stored flat separately or upright. Unfortunately, the set doesn't include a storage box to keep the sharp blades safely organized, which I think should have been included. So, while the appliance itself doesn't take up much counter space, storing all the accessories neatly and safely is another matter. The system comes with two thick, hard-plastic bowls, one 7-cup and one 5-cup, each with its own lid. The different-colored spindles make it easy to identify which one belongs with each bowl size. I also appreciate the rubberized, ridged bottoms, which grip the countertop and help prevent the bowls from slipping during use. The feed chute and motor pod lock securely onto the bowls, so I don't have to worry about them coming loose while I'm using the system. I especially like the three-part feed chute, which accommodates different sizes of vegetables and helps achieve more consistent chopping and slicing. The motor dial turns smoothly, and assembling and disassembling the parts is simple, making cleanup quick and easy. The lids snap on, but the inside has only three raised sections to hold them in place rather than a continuous ridged ring. As a result, the fit isn't as tight as I would prefer. They do stay in place, however, so this isn't a major issue. All the included bowls, lids, and parts are dishwasher safe, but do not use the heated-dry cycle, as the heat can damage the bowls. The blades are extremely sharp, so use caution when hand-washing them. I wanted to test every included blade and setting for this review, so I put the system through its paces with several different foods. The chopping blade worked great for Pico de Gallo, chunky guacamole, and chopping vegetables for my salads. I don't use it for lettuce because it produces more of a chopped-salad texture, whereas I prefer larger pieces of lettuce. The slicing blade made quick work of preparing burger toppings, and the slices were fairly uniform. The shredding blade handled an entire 16-ounce block of cheddar cheese in seconds for the mac and cheese I was making. I also tried the crinkle-cut blade on strawberries for my son, and it worked well. He thought the crinkle-shaped slices were fun! Lastly, I used the pureeing function on frozen fruit. It did a good job creating a smooth base, although I'll probably continue using my blender for that particular task. I can see this function being useful for making hummus and smooth dips, though. One thing worth mentioning is that I ordered the 5-in-1 PREPi system, which doesn't include the dicing kit. After using the system and seeing how convenient it is for cutting ingredients, I decided to purchase the additional dicing kit directly from Ninja for another $60. If dicing is something you'll use frequently, I'd recommend purchasing the 6-in-1 PREPi instead. It saves you $10 compared with buying the 5-in-1 system and the separate dicing kit, and you won't have to wait for the additional accessories to arrive. I do wish the dicing kit included a second blade size for larger diced pieces, as that would make it even more versatile. I'd rate the Ninja PREPi 4.5 out of 5 stars. It performs well and makes food prep much faster, but the lack of a dedicated storage solution for the sharp blades, the bowls not nesting together, and the lids not fitting as securely as I'd prefer keep it from earning a higher rating. Improving these design details would make an already useful kitchen appliance even better. ... show more

My New Favorite Meal-Prep Shortcut
Color: Midnight Blue
I’ve been trying to eat healthier, and a big part of that has been meal prepping so I have no excuse to order takeout after a long day at work. The problem is that I’ve been eating a ton of salads and vegetables, and I was getting really tired of all the slicing, chopping, and shredding involved. This Ninja PREPi has made that part of meal prep ridiculously fast. It makes quick work of pretty much everything I’ve put into it. I can shred an entire block of cheese in seconds, and I had all of my peppers and onions sliced for fajitas and ready to sauté in under a minute. I’ve also started adding a lot more variety to my salads because now chopping or shredding another vegetable doesn’t feel like adding another chore to the process. I really like having the different cutting options, too. The reversible slicing and shredding disc is probably what I use most, but the chopping blade is great when I want something chopped more finely, and the crinkle-cut disc is just fun. It gives vegetables that wavy cut that makes them look like I spent considerably more time on them than I actually did. Having both a 5-cup and 7-cup bowl has also been more useful than I expected. I can use the smaller one when I’m prepping something just for myself and the larger one when I’m making several meals at once. The storage lids are a nice addition because I can prep something in the bowl, put the lid directly on it, and stick the whole thing in the refrigerator instead of dirtying another container. For a 500-watt machine, it has plenty of power for what I’m doing, but it still feels relatively compact compared with dragging out a full-size food processor. I’m much more likely to use something regularly when it doesn’t turn a simple salad into a whole kitchen production. In the end, this has become one of my favorite meal-prep shortcuts. I’m getting vegetables, cheese, and salad ingredients prepped in a fraction of the time it used to take me, and I’m actually eating a bigger variety of vegetables because preparing them is so easy now. Anything that makes me more likely to eat the food I planned instead of ordering takeout is earning its place in my kitchen. ... show more

Versatile Ninja Food Prep System That Saves Time in the Kitchen
Color: Midnight Blue
I really like the concept of this Ninja food prep system. It combines chopping, crinkle cutting, slicing, shredding, and puréeing in one appliance, with a powerful 500-watt motor. It’s a great option for anyone who wants to speed up food prep without having several separate appliances taking up space. I tested the system with bell peppers and onions for a bean salad and chili, and it did a great job. The pieces came out nice and even, and prep was much quicker. The motor is strong without being excessively loud. To me, the sound is comparable to a vacuum cleaner or possibly a little quieter. The system comes with two bowls with measurement markings and storage lids, which I really appreciate. You can prep your ingredients and store them directly in the refrigerator without transferring everything to another container. It also includes three feeder inserts for different ingredient sizes when slicing and shredding. These need to be used together as a set, even when using the smallest opening, so keep them together to avoid losing any pieces. The smallest insert also doubles as a measuring cup. It’s a nice idea, although I think its narrow shape could make it difficult to clean without a good bottle brush. The appliance isn’t particularly heavy, and the cord length is a practical plus in the kitchen. I also like the available color options. Mine matches my Café appliances, although this is more of a functional appliance than something I’d want to display on the counter. Cleanup has been fairly easy with the ingredients I’ve tested. Most components are dishwasher safe, but I personally prefer to hand-wash the blades. They’re extremely sharp, and I’d rather avoid having them move around in the dishwasher or risk damaging them. I do wish the system came with a better storage solution for the loose blades and accessories. Keeping everything organized is important so the smaller inserts don’t get misplaced. One thing worth noting is that Ninja specifically warns against putting raw sweet potato through the machine. There are stickers on the components directing you to watch a video explaining how to soften sweet potatoes first. I find that a little surprising for a food prep appliance with a powerful motor, particularly if the sweet potato is cut into appropriately sized pieces. I haven’t tested it and wouldn’t risk damaging an expensive appliance to find out, but it’s something to be aware of if you regularly prepare sweet potatoes. I’d recommend this system for people who meal prep regularly, cook from scratch, or prepare large batches of food. If you’re deciding between this 5-in-1 and the upgraded 6-in-1, I’d personally spend the extra money for the dicing attachment. I found dicing vegetables much quicker than using a traditional push-top dicer, and it produced nice, even pieces. For someone who cooks frequently, meal preps, or does a lot of canning, I think that additional function is worth the upgrade. For someone who only chops a few vegetables occasionally, the price of either system may be harder to justify. But if you regularly prepare large quantities of ingredients, having multiple prep functions in one appliance can save a lot of time and reduce the need for separate tools. ... show more

Good enough at chopping frozen fruit to replace my blender.
Color: Midnight Blue
This handles frozen fruit well enough that I'm confident it will replace my aging blender. It's quieter than my blender too. I tried it with very chunky blueberries and raspberries that had been accidentally unfrozen and refrozen together into large masses. I even overfilled a bit above the 'manual fill line'. It quite effortlessly chopped through it until it was evenly blended. The motor seems quite strong. My old blender would constantly have the issue where it would chop up any fruit near the blade and the upper frozen half would end up not hitting the blade at all. This Ninja does not have that issue whatsoever, it is much smoother. The only disadvantage is the larger blade doesn't chop things down quite as small, so you'll either have to accept a bit of texture in your smoothies or run it multiple times until it gets finer. They could probably design a blade specifically for frozen blending if they haven't already. The settings are also not tuned for smoothie making, but totally workable. The pulse setting did not work as I expected. Instead of running the entire time you're pressing down on the button, like with a 'normal' blender, it just does three short pulses and ends. Even the high setting only runs for a set amount of time and then ends. But having to press a button a few times is a minor inconveniences for the broader flexibility this system provides. The larger parts are also easier to clean than with my blender. The motor is easily separable from the components that will actually get dirty, and everything being designed for wide bowls means there's no sharp crevices that are hard to reach with a brush or sponge. The fact that the resulting mix is already in a storage bowl is also very convenient, and means there's one less dirty dish to clean. It feels quite sturdy and seems to be made of quality materials. If it lasts I will be very happy with it. ... show more

Efficient, Innovative, and Great for Everyday Prep
Color: Midnight Blue
This item arrives neatly enclosed in a product box that provides plenty of protection, ensuring that everything is received in perfect condition. Inside are the Ninja PREPi motor base, two different-sized bowls with storage lids, and the components for the five preparation functions. I already use Ninja appliances for quite a few things in my kitchen, and this fills a different niche by focusing almost entirely on the annoying prep work that has to happen before I can actually start cooking. It chops and purées, but it can also slice, shred, and make crinkle cuts. The reversible slicing and shredding disc is clever because flipping a single piece switches between two functions rather than requiring separate attachments. Another feature I really like is being able to prepare and store food in the same bowls. The 5-cup size works well when I am making something for myself, while the 7-cup bowl gives me more room for larger recipes. Once I am finished, I can add the storage lid and put the entire bowl in the refrigerator. Despite the number of functions, the 500-watt motor unit itself is fairly small, so this does not feel like dragging out a giant food processor every time I want to shred some cheese or slice vegetables. This is a great new gadget that saves a lot of time, but doesn’t take up a ton of counter space. Overall, this is a practical food prep system that saves both time and unnecessary dishes. I have enjoyed using this Ninja PREPi so far, and I look forward to continuing to do so in the future. ... show more

Easy to use and works great
Color: Midnight Blue
This Ninja PREPi is very easy to use and works great! I like the fact that the system comes with two storage bowls with lids that you process your food right into and then can store it for later use. It makes quick work of slicing, grating, or pureeing. The different blades give you the options of simply slices, crinkle cut, shredding, or pureeing. This is very handy and will replace my current food processor! ... show more

A Real Time-Saver in My Kitchen
Color: Midnight Blue
I do a lot of vegetable prep for my family, and chopping, slicing, and shredding everything by hand can take quite a bit of time. The Ninja PREPi has already made that part of cooking much easier for me. It saves time and cuts down on the repetitive work my hands have to do. I made a sautéed mixed vegetable dish tonight with shredded carrots, potatoes, and cabbage. It literally took less than five minutes to shred everything. That would have taken much longer by hand. The PREPi can also crinkle, chop, slice, and purée, so there are plenty of other ways I can use it. Tomorrow I’m planning to chop potatoes for home fries, and I can already think of so many other vegetables I’ll be preparing with it. It was easy to figure out. Almost every part is labeled, and the instructions are straightforward, so it only took me a few minutes to get everything set up. I also really like how compact it is. The motor pod is small, and the whole system doesn’t take up much counter space. The two bowls are convenient, too. I can prep what I need and put the lid on the bowl to store it in the refrigerator instead of transferring everything to another container. Cleanup is easy as well. Most of the parts are dishwasher safe, although I usually just rinse everything right after I’m done and let the pieces air dry. I’ve only started using it, but it has already made vegetable prep much quicker and easier. I can see myself reaching for it often when cooking for my family. ... show more
