  • I would recommend it..
Color: Gray Size: 48 oz.
For the price it is worth it. There are some design flaws. I will go with a pro and con list. Pros- Works amazing, it really does blend well. After I got it I was highly doubtful because it is not like any blender I have ever seen. It does work great. Really easy to clean. With ice, you have to be careful not to over fill it, but it does work. With the smaller one I made powdered sugar from normal sugar ...it actually worked. Took a bit and I think with a different one it would have worked a little better. I have made iced coffee mixes with it and I love it... Cons- The way you put the blades in isn't very well thought out...it just sits in there ..not locked in place...I almost broke the larger blending pitcher because I had poured some smoothie out to test it, well I forgot to keep my finger on the top blade stick thingy part...it moved while I did that. I did not realize and put the motor on it and pressed the button. It was not on the bit of metal that holds it and almost destroyed the pitcher..(if it was glass it would probably be broken). Once the blade part comes out you can't use the blender...you can't just put it back on..so if it accidentally pops up and you are not finished..you have to pour out what you are making and clean it. I know this makes it sound awful but it actually has an amazing motor for how cheap it is..I have already gotten good use from it. I waited to make this review. The design seems to be something no ones spoken about and I figured I would let people know. As long as you do not make my mistake you won't damage the pitcher... Update: I have had my blender for almost 3 yrs now. It is the older version thats like 34$ now. I have had none of these issues with it that are being posted. The only thing I've noticed is...the bottom of the pitcher where the lil thing goes through for the blades ..is forming cracks. This is from use though and is to be expected. The issues I am seeing are from using it wrong. The melting, its from not pulsing it. I do mine for 15 second pulses. It over heats the motor and that is why your burning the plastic. I do not add everything at once either(if I'm going to make a good amount). The motors strong but that's unnecessary strain on it...plus it can make it leak if you add all at once. Yes, I'm sure some are defects..but you're buying a cheaper blender, expecting it to be like the $300 Ninja. I also dont recommend using ice. I will sometimes put a cube in or three after I add my other ingredients... but I don't think the pitcher itself is made for ice. Or maybe pulse it for less time. I also hand wash it... the plastic breaking could be from dishwashing. Heating plastic up isn't great for it. ... show more

  • Excellent - with improvements over the older model
Color: Gray Size: 48 oz.
This is our third purchase of this unit. Each one has incorporated meaningful engineering improvements, and this one is by far the best. We keep buying them because they are efficient, well thought-out and durable. The last one lasted probably four years, with very regular use, several times a week. Some things we like about this latest iteration: - The blender vessel is a HUGE added value. - Blades are sharper and reconfigurable. - The engine housing never comes into contact with food prep areas, so it doesn't ever need to be washed per se (just wiped down). Older versions required you to clean the underside under running water, which always felt funny because there was an electric motor inside that housing. Water never penetrated the housing, but it just seemed like a bad idea. This one has a separate cap on the vessel, rather than the motor unit ALSO being the cap. It's a wee bit heavier than the prior model, but that's because the motor is stronger, and because of the new cap system. It's quite manageable. From a value for money point of view, this thing is hard to beat. We love it. ... show more

  • The best blender replacement
Color: Gray Size: 48 oz.
We got this for our wedding over 10 years ago. It still works amazing. I have bought one for my mother-in-law because she loves borrowing ours for frozen drinks. It is great a crushing ice but good for blending soups and salads. We got rid of our blender a year after getting this because this is so much easier to use and clean. The blades have lasted a long time. Just make sure you always align the blades correctly in to the place on the bottom. overtime it can be harder to do but ours is still functional. You won't regret this purchase at all. ... show more

  • Great help when having dental work done!
Color: Gray Size: 48 oz.
I'm having extensive dental work done, and didn't want to rely on the milk-based liquid meals. I remembered that years ago when I had pain from braces my mom used her blender to pulverize meat for me. I searched and chose this Ninja Blender. It works great! What a relief. I finally feel full, of real food. I've chopped (cooked) chicken, beef, ham, and rice a roni. And although it says not to use it on hard things like uncooked rice, I also made some crackers into crumbs - no problem. I was surprised how quickly it worked - just 5 or 6 quick pulses for up to 2 cups of meat. Less than 10 seconds. And while there might be a very few pieces that escaped the blades, I don't find any "dead" spots, even in the bottom where the sides of the container meet the floor. The rubber edging on the bottom of the cup makes it very secure - no wobble at all. The instructions for assembling could've been more specific, but I figured it out, then it was simple to use. (The splash guard has to be lined up with the bowl at a particular spot.) I don't always wash dishes after each meal, so I looked into getting a second bowl, but when I found it was half the cost of the entire blender (not to mention a second set of blades, and splash guard), I just ordered a second blender set as a back-up and feel it's a good investment. I rinse it after each use, then washing later is no problem. Lastly, it's fairly compact for my tight counter space - I can leave it out without having to work around it. This blender is making my life so much easier, and was less expensive that I expected. I'm saving hours of cutting food into tiny pieces (and avoiding a stiff neck!) I recommend this blender highly. ... show more
