Makes the upgrade easier for sure. I didn't like the design of the plug hanging down on a bracket where it's more exposed to dirt, water, rocks, low clearance, etc. I mounted it in my bumper next to my license plate instead. If you do a surface mount like that you'll need a 2" hole for the big plug and a smaller rectangle for the 4-wire. It's worth the effort in my opinion, more protected and looks less like an aftermarket bolt on. Wherever you put it, use Loctite! ... show more

Connected to my factory 4 pin perfectly. Easy to install with the included hardware. The 7 pin socket is a little sloppy though and doesn't seem to grab the trailer plug like it should. It's really easy to pull out with one finger and shouldn't be that loose. Glad it has a spring loaded cover, otherwise it would probably fall out in transit. ... show more

I’m looking to get an RV travel trailer. I have a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder. I put this in so I could install a brake controller for the travel trailer. I removed the original 4-pin plug, direct wired this one in, and mounted it to the hitch frame to the left of the hitch. I did have to drill and tap for screws, but that is an easy thing for me to do. YMMV. The ground loop was long enough to get to a solid ground point in the sub-frame. And I really appreciate that the sockets are well protected when I’m not hooked up to a trailer. Looks clean and very easy to configure for your particular need. ... show more
