The media could not be loaded. Check out the photos. I built a self contained, self powered, receiver hitch winch. I used a Nilight receiver hitch carriage and this Nilight winch, + a battery tray and battery. I welded some cut up bed rails to the battery tray and bolted them to the handle attachment bolts of the carriage. Ideally, I probably should have gone with a 6k winch +/-. I wasn't sure how concerned to be about weight. But I used an LiFeP04 battery, which is much lighter than a lead acid battery. Total weight measures out at "not as bad as I expected", so in hindsight a bigger winch would have been great. But that's on me, not on Nilight. I shortened the cort to the hard-wired switch. I was suprirsed that the wires were soldered to the blade connectors on the switch, but whatever. I might go back and shorten the battery leads. A minor complaint: the round wire connectors intended to attach to the battery are too small for my battery posts. IIRC, the posts are M8? They were close, I just drilled them out a little. The winch carriage I picked up is intended for a larger winch, so the mounting holes didn't line up. And the slot for the cable was too high. I solved both of those problems by welding some steel rail to the mounting plate included with this winch, then drilling holes that align to the mounting holes in the carriage. I could have just drilled holes in the carriage, but that wouldn't solve the height issue. I've got some hunting land and occasionally get stuff stuck. I've felt like I should have a winch, but I don't want to put a winch on everything I own. And I don't want to have long battery cables to trip over so I can connect a receiver hitch winch to anything I own. Overall, I'm happy with this setup. I have a reciever hitch on the truck, front of the trailer (as pictured), front & back of the ATV, and tractor. Now whatever gets stuck (of mine or a friends), I can carry this up to it, plug it in, and be winching in about 3 seconds. I like having both the remote and the wired switch. If I lose the remote, I can still get the job done. But if I need to be operating the vehicle while operating the winch, the remote is great. The bolts to attach the fairlead seemed wrong, and the printed logo on the fairlead appears to be on the wrong side. I would expect the countersinking to be out (away from the winch) and the logo to also be out (so its visible). I ended up putting the logo out, which means I didn't use the countersinking holes in the fairlead. Maybe they'll fix that. It doesn't really matter, so no stars removed for that. Hey Nilight, if you're reading this: you shouuld look at putting together your own version of this.

Ordered this 3500 lb ATV 12 Volt Electric Winch - W/3500 lb Synthetic Rope for use while digging trenches. I dig trenches for water, electric, fiber optics, and water problem areas for residential & commercial. Often, because of the nature of the business and the weather, my machines get stuck in the mud while digging. I'm usually alone when digging. When I would get stuck, it's either use my "come along winch" by hand crank or call a tow truck $$$. Recently while shopping online for some trailer parts for my Ditch Witch trailer, I saw this ATV size winch and was reading about how it's made/designed and it's strength and ordered it. Getting this nice unit was a life saver for me. It certainly saves me lots of wasted time and money as well. Now, When either of my machines gets stuck, all I have to do is back my truck up within approx 30+ ft of machine, hook the G-70 grade steel hook and winch rope to it and easily pull it out and away from trouble, and can go right back to work again, immediately. This baby is powerful as it's copper clad motor is rated 3,500 LB pulling strength. This is an easy pull for the winch as my machines weighs from 1,600 to 3,200 Lbs. My favorite part is the remote control mobile unit. I can hook winch to machine and help guide machine while having the remote in my hand. This lets me operate the winch, all while still being at the trencher to help guide it. Can do all this while being alone, by just having this nice strong winch. It also came with a On/Off manual control at the unit. Also like that the remote works approx up to 80 ft away from the winch unit. This powerful winch unit came complete with mounting plate, hardware and wiring to hook it all up and use quickly. Wish I would of had this unit 20 yrs ago. I do recommend it and give it a (5) star rating Happy with order

Good unit, comes with everything needed to install. I was/am going to install this on the rear of my garden tractor to pull logs out of my wooded areas. I live on a large property with hundreds of trees, and many of which fall each year, or have to be trimmed of large dead limbs. This winch is ideal for a hitch mounted rig on my SUV to hold the winch and let out a lot of tow line. With the remote or manual control I can tug and pull whatever I attach the line to just the way I need to. So much better than blindly hooking up lines to the tow hitch ball and being in the driver’s seat not seeing well what is going on, or controlling it well. Everything you need is in the box and well worth having for full time work, or even that occasional use that will pay for itself the very first time. Great Product.
