  • You Won’t Be Disappointed
I debated for a year before buying this. It will probably be my last camera. I debated the D850 which is the top of the Nikon DSLR offerings. My camera was a D7500. If you know how to operate all the features of a non-entry-level Nikon, learning this is easy. The first thing I noticed was the focusing. It’s very fast. The focus that I used to track an Bald Eagle was like radar. The focus dots jumped to every place the bird moved before I could even react to recenter. It worked the same way for a hummingbird. There are settings for birds, portraits, etc. Reading all the technical reviews was very confusing. Any concerns about 45-megapixel images eating up your hard drive are unwarranted. You can choose what image size you want. Batteries do run down quickly, especially if you use the display, but that can be turned off to use the view finder only. It’s new technology for me, so I am still learning. Look for the good, and adjust to what you wish was better. The FTZ adapter for using your old DSLR lenses works perfectly. Nothing stays the same as anything from a previous generation. One other update: If you have DX lenses from your DSLR, there is a DX setting option. Those lenses work with the FTZ adapter. That setting also makes any F lenses function the same way as on a DX camera. ... show more

  • Does what is says on the box.
I've had the Z8 for 3 weeks and beginning to get to grips with it. My only issue is it does too much and there is so much to learn to get the full use. I only have one Z lens at the moment, a 100-400 4.5/5.6, but am able to utilize my 4 F lenses with ease and without compromising the Z8's quality. It is so much lighter than the D800E it replaces, and makes lugging around the 100/400 lens so much more tolerable. Battery life is adequate, but only about half the time I was getting from the mirror D800E. Overall I am very happy with the purchase. ... show more
