It's an eyepiece. It replaces the original one for your pro film or DSLR Nikon camera. I got this one to replace the one I had lost on my n90s and it works great- keeps the camera clean. Its not that easy to clean, but what do you expect from such a small piece of glass? Just make sure you occasionally wipe it off with something soft (preferably microfiber), and you'll be fine ... show more

This thing does what it does. I've had to order a bunch of them because they constantly come unscrewed from my Df, but that's the camera fault not the eyepiece. It works great for the D3 and D700, which has a locking mechanism.

This is a exact replacement for a Nikon D4. I lost my original one somehow, i think it unscrewed itself and fell off somewhere. This item is excellent quality and fits perfect. I am going to apply a small dab of silicon gasket maker to the threads of this so that it will not loosen off the threads but when you apply enough pressure it will still release if ever need to remove for cleaning. ... show more

I had recently lost my original eyepiece and rubber eyecup for my F3(HP), and was unsure if this was the one that would fit, and I'm glad it was. I was looking for something to protect the inner viewfinder from dust and such. What I received was a screw mounted glass plate, looks to be coated, and it has a rubber coating on the outside of the ring. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a replacement eyepiece for the added protection (as well as not wanting to look at the unsightly circle that juts out from the eyepiece w/o one). ... show more

This original Nikon part replaced eyepieces lost on both a Nikon D810 and D500. If you use a sling strap to have your camera at your side instead of around your neck these eyepieces constantly come off. In fact, I just lost one of the replacements I bought on a recent trip to Canada. This is a bit of a Nikon flaw for these cameras. I'm going to have to tack the next one on with something because once the eyepieces start to come off it will happen repeatedly. ... show more
