  • Great package!
Style: w/ 18-140mm + 55-300mm VR Bundle Set: Base
So far, So Good! Great package. Able to take the 18-140 lens by itself for most situations. Put it in the camera bag & off I go. The 55-300 lens is great to have but the 18-140 is preferred to the other wide angle options (18-55 or other lens options) so this seems to be the perfect package. The camera itself is great. I've had it a little over a month & hopefully feel the same after I've had it for a while, but it is a great camera, great package & I'm very happy so far. I paid more for this option, but highly advise the 18-140 lens option. Great pictures, great options on the D7100 & Very happy so far. Bought a small camera bag (Tamrac MAS system) that holds camera with 18-140 lens (or bigger lens), spare batteries & it is great for day trips and outings. I have a separate lens case (Tamrac MAS system for either the 55-300 lens or the 18-140) that attaches to the camera bag to take both if and when needed, but in most cases, it is unnecessary when I put the wide angle lens on with zoom to 140 as this is sufficient most of the time. Less weight, less hassle. I almost bought a package from Costco with a 18-55 lens instead of the 18-140 for about $400 less ($200 off on sale), but I am very glad I researched and upgraded to this package as I would have needed to take both lenses everywhere I went. If I have any problems, I'll update this review, but after 5-6 weeks & hundreds of pictures, I am Very Happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • This is a superb camera system for my PI business
Style: w/ 18-140mm + 55-300mm VR Bundle Set: Base
I am an old Nikon fan-bought my first 35mm F2 Photomic in Vietnam in the exchange 44 years ago. I taught photography to investigators years ago but have not picked up a SLR in many years, and we were still using film then. I found the whole concept of learning digital photography in my 60's to be intimidating but I needed to jump in to assist in startup of a private investigation business. This camera system has just about everything I will need to get started-I added an SB 700 speedlight and I am ready to go. The only thing I could suggest to make this better would be to include a couple of no color screw on lens filters to protect the lenses because you know that is going to be the first thing you are going to buy. The instructions are clear and easy to read and taking pictures with this camera is quite intuitive-I was shooting good photos within an hour and am impressed with the image quality. This is a good value for the price. ... show more

  • Great Camera, Great Package, Great Price
Style: w/ 18-140mm + 55-300mm VR Bundle Set: Base
After spending a semester using a Nikon 7000, I knew I wanted to invest in a 7100 as a graduation gift to myself. It's a great camera for someone looking to step past the beginner models but doesn't want to spend $2000 on just the body. I use mine to shoot concerts, nature, and portraits, and the shots turn out great. The 18-145 kit lens takes very solid photos that are clear and have great color saturation. The telephoto is just as good, and comes in a carrying pouch that's nice for storage. Overall this bundle is a phenomenal deal. Even if it just came with the body and two lenses I would have bought it, so the bad, wireless adaptor and memory card a nice bonus. I especially like how roomy the bag is. I can fit both my 7100 and 3100 bodies, a 18-55 lens, 18-104, and the 55-300 telephoto comfortably. The bag also has a padded pouch for an iPad in with the cameras, plus numerous zipper pockets for stashing extra batteries, cleaning supplies, and what not. TL:DR - If you have experience with lower level DSLRs and want to upgrade, go with this package, it's totally worth it. ... show more

  • High Speed RAW Shooters; AVOID THIS CAMERA
Style: w/ 18-140mm + 55-300mm VR Bundle Set: Base
This camera has some excellent features, the scene modes are excellent, and it has good controls for manual. Unlike my Canon 7D, it doesn't try to take every picture at 1/100 F4 even when it's bright sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. However, I am a high speed raw shooter, I do moving objects like people and trains. This thing is PATHETIC when it comes to that. It can only shoot 6, count them 6, RAW images on full frame high speed. My Canon 7D can shoot about 18. It is unacceptable for the amount of money this camera is that the buffer can only hold 6 raw images. It's a shame because the camera has great features for shooting high speed auto, but a woofully underpowered buffer. ... show more

  • Hands down the best DSLR around a thousand bucks. Hands down the best DSLR around a thousand bucks.
Style: w/ 18-140mm + 55-300mm VR Bundle Set: Base
I have been using this camera for over 2 years. It has a solid, weather-resistant body and has been a faithful companion in different conditions, various terrains, and in several countries, and has never let me down for any shot I wanted to capture. Know your technique right, and this camera will kick ass. Use it in combination with 35mm 1.8G, or 50mm 1.8, to reveal its full potential. Add a fast (>90Mb/s writing speed) and shoot continuous, the camera is a beast! It performs very well under low light with nice shots up to ISO3200. I have produced multiple award-winning photos with this, so should you! Shout out to all you who are starting out, get this camera (don't waste $ on 3000/5000 series), and start some seriously great photography! ... show more

  • Very good enthusiast-level camera.
Style: w/ 18-140mm + 55-300mm VR Bundle Set: Base
Fantastic bundle covering everything from a bit of wide angle to a superzoom. This camera has great low-light capability and very fast shooting. It's very customizable and it's cleverly designed to get you quickly shooting however you want to shoot. Very robust and easy to handle. Great for photography enthusiasts!! This one really exceeded my expectations. Even though you'll get a full range, I'd suggest buying a nice, fast prime lens. I bought the fixed 35mm 1.8, it's awesomely well built and it's great for low light and portraits. The wireless unit (WU-1a Wireless Adapter) it's a whole other thing though. The app's UI is severly restrictive and it disconnects constantly, so you can't really download more than 10 pictures at the same time. The bag is big but really has to be. You can fit everything in there. ... show more

  • Couldn't be more pleased
Style: w/ 18-140mm + 55-300mm VR Bundle Set: Base
Having finally retired I was in the market to pursue my life long passion for photography. Obviously being retired I quickly came to the conclusion that although I wanted to get the biggest and best bang for my buck...I'm on a fixed income now. I researched several camera manufacturers and various models that each offered (Narrowed my search to Nikon and Canon). When I finally decided that the Nikon D7100 would best fit my wants/needs I proceeded to look for the best price. A package was advertised about a month before Christmas that I was quite impressed with but wasn't sure that I was prepared to pay the price for it. After further searches for the best price available I quickly came to the realization that the package was as good a deal as I would get. When I went back to Amazon the package was no longer available. I continued searching for the same package price for several weeks but was unable to find it anywhere. Finally, about a week before Christmas, I went back to Amazon and low and behold the package was once again available. At that juncture I did not hesitate for a single second. I purchased the Nikon package and thus far have absolutely no regrets. The Nikon D7100 is a remarkable piece of engineering and has met all of my expectations and beyond. ... show more
