Top Amazon Reviews

  • Quality Bargain
Style: w/ Triple Battery Creator Kit
Camera works as expected. The reviews on the various camera blogs and review websites are spot on - this is a great starter camera. Very easy to use and takes wonderful pictures. The zoom capability is phenomenal. My only complaint is that the software bundle that comes with the camera doesn't support the camera, but that's not the camera's fault, nor the seller's. Corel Aftershot Pro 3 does not list this camera in their support and you are unable to import files into it (check the website on supported cameras and you'll see that only the CoolPix 1000 is supported. I tried installing the CoolPix 1000 camera profile to see if it would read my RAW images and it wouldn't, it's an issue with Corel and I'm hoping they'll add support for this camera in a coming patch as it's a relatively new camera on the market). The remaining programs in the bundle appear to work well, though when loading RAW files into Photoshop gives a prompt to use Aftershot instead, which doesn't really work at the moment due to Corel not including support for the camera. In regards to the bundle, if you're looking to buy this camera, purchase a larger tripod (I bought a 60-inch one here on Amazon for $29). The tripod included in this bundle is 12" high, which is great if you're setting the camera on your desk or a table, but isn't very practical if you're planning on doing the famous moon shots (or any other 2000mm zooming). Now on to the camera: The camera has a lot of user-friendly settings, making it a great beginner camera. Even the default "auto" setting is great for point & click shooting. It's not a DSLR and it does suffer from having a smaller sensor, but this camera still packs a punch with what it can do. I tried using it in higher ISO ranges (3200+) and the pics were noticeably grainy (due to smaller sensor). That said, you are most likely not going to use this camera for night shots (unless it's a moon shot, of course, and even then, it's slightly grainy). This camera does, however, excel at day shots, which is where most of the zoom features will be used to their fullest potential (ISO 100 or 200 during the day are really terrific shots). I took lots of really amazing and crisp close-up shots of birds, squirrels, rabbits, lizards, and other animals that are skittish around humans from a range of about 20-25 feet. Very high level of detail, too. The camera is THAT good. This is a good camera to take with you to the zoo or on a hiking trip. The 4k video at 30 fps is good for beginner in video (though I actually prefer recording on this camera using 1080p at 60 fps). I was able to extract some pretty good stills with either format. Due to the smaller sensor, this camera doesn't track moving objects with a high degree of accuracy when it comes to focusing. If you're trying to record or capture images at sporting events, this isn't the camera to use. It does a decent job despite it's limitations and there is a "sport" setting on it to help with focusing on moving objects, but this camera can't compete with the larger sensors on a DSLR. I managed to get some good, crisp pictures of a fire in the grill/firepit with a high shutter speed setting. As mentioned above, there are all sorts of "auto" settings that are preset into the camera - food, night, landscape, sports, sunset, macro, etc. It also has the manual modes to adjust aperture and shutter speed. There's also a "user" mode where you can manually adjust and store the aperture and shutter speed settings for easy access/swapping between modes. The landscape mode has an HDR setting for highly detailed shots. The ergonomics of the camera are great. The grip is very well designed. It feels great in the hands. It's not a heavy camera, almost feels identical to a DSLR. Only issue with the camera's ergonomics (that even the professionals on camera websites complain about) is the lack of a touch screen LED. It would make getting through the menus a lot easier. It's not really a big deal, but it would have been a nice feature. All in all, it's a great camera. Worth every penny if you're just getting into photography. The zoom features are what really make this camera shine. If you want quality at closer ranges and higher megapixels, buy a DSLR. If you want the superzoom capabilities with a camera that takes fairly decent pictures throughout the entire 24-2000mm range, this is your camera. It's a niche camera and the price is definitely cheaper than buying all the lenses needed to reach the same zoom capabilities on a DSLR. Plus it's a lot lighter than a DSLR with all those lenses. If your goal is to only upload pictures to Instagram or other social media platforms, then this camera will more than do the job. ... show more

The Nikon P950 is a great camera. Easy to use and takes great pics!! You don't have to worry about changing lenses. You can shoot the moon, craters and all or shoot a macro. Great value for the money.

  • While an excellent camera, I've found it a bit difficult to use for birding.
Style: w/ Triple Battery Creator Kit
First the good points, it can take photos both close up and telephoto, saving me the problem of having two lenses as I do with my old Nikon 5300. The telephoto has higher magnification than with my old telephoto lens. However, I bought this camera for birding, which means focusing on small creatures, often at distance, that do not want to stay still. You need a camera with a quick focus, that you can adjust fast. This camera is much more difficult to get the shot than is my old Nikon. It is slow to adjust the telephoto and often sticks at one magnification. When doing nature photography and seconds count, this camera simply doesn't measure up. I will use it in my routine travels, where it can fill the role of two lenses, but for birding, I'm bringing my old camera. ... show more

  • Stellar camera for cost
Style: w/ Triple Battery Creator Kit
This bridge camera is awesome! I started taking pictures for my daughters softball team using a Nikon D60 camera which did OK but needed something better to get those quick action shots. The features of this camera make it simple to get the picture you want in an action sequence of any sport. The features of this camera are also nice if you want to photograph landscape or animals in nature. Its an all around great camera...not to mention the crazy zoom capabilities of the camera which arent as great as the P1000 but it is still way more than you will probably need at a cheaper price. ... show more

Style: w/ Triple Battery Creator Kit
Lovely camera and I’m still learning all about it. It is easy to use, just a huge curve on how to do it well! But I love it so far and the zoom is absolutely amazing on this!! The bundle provides all I need to get going. I also chose to purchase 2 extra batteries and a charger to make my life easier on trips. ... show more

  • No software like advertised
Style: w/ Triple Battery Creator Kit
At least 6-7 different software programs were advertised as part of the purchase package. None were with the camera or provided later. False advertising. But camera itself is great.

  • Unbelievable Quality
Style: w/ Triple Battery Creator Kit
Actually the camera was lighter that I expected. Took it kayaking and took great pix with the birding button pre set. Eagle from kayak on the river to the tree top.
